From my Aunt - Linda Ballew Moon: The Ballew Family Association of America and the descendants of Clinch Haywood and Minnie Lee Ross Ballew invite you once again to attend the International Ballew Family Reunion August 20th, 2005 @ Locust Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Travelers Rest, SC The reunion starts at 11:00 am Featured speakers are: Dr. Niki Ballew, pastor of Locust Hill giving the welcome and prayer William Wayne (Bill) Ballew from Missouri - presiding over election of officers Paul Ballew from Georgia - DNA information Anne McCuen from Greenville, SC - author of many genealogical books including her latest book " Including a Pile of Rocks" that sheds some light on the inhabitants of the "Dark Corner" Please bring your stories, pictures and family tree documents and mingle and exchange information.     2. Tony, Do you have any records of earlier Smiths in Greenville CO, SC. Recently, I came into the possession of an account book for the Hardy Jones Gilreath General Store. Just wanted you to know that Smiths are mentioned in it as making purchases. It covers a period form 1852 to at least 1854...where I am now reading. This store was in the Jackson Grove Community of Greenville CO, SC and probably across the road from the current Jackson Grove Methodist Church. To anyone who has ancestores in this area during this time period...I would be glad to do look-ups. It will take a while, but I hope to eventually indes the book. Of course there are a lot of Gilreaths mentioned. Debby Neves

They had children named Madison, Phelix, Nannie, Roxie, Judge, Maria, Rosa, and Hattie. Judge Sherman was my grandfather, born January 16, 1895 in Greenville and died October 17, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He married Lillie (LIla) Smith (7/28/1898 - 12/8/1964). Lillie was the daughter of John Kelly Smith (4/13/1867 - 4/1/1942) and Ida T. Arnold (Smith) (1878 -1912). John Kelly Smith's mother was Odosha (Docia) Smith (1850-1922) of Greenville. Ida Tosca Arnold was the daughter of Harrison Aronold (1849-1920) and Amanda Sullivan (Arnold) (1837- 1923). Most of them are African American with some connections to a Native American people (probably Cherokee). He had 5 children - the last being Simpson (Cimpson) Bishop b. Oct 1892 in NC. The 1900 and 1910 Census show 'Cimpson' as a child of William. So there were 2 Bishop's with the same first name and the inof I had about Mary Shell must be incorrect. Will let you know what I find next - thanks for your help

His parents were Hugh Bishop and Permelia Ann Gilbert. He was married to Mary Ann Shell. Simp was b. 1832 in Spartburg County and died after 1910 in the Travelers Rest area of Greenville County.Both he had Mary Ann are buried in unmarked graves in Enoree Baptist Church cemetery near Travelers Rest. While Cassie, (my grandmother), Stella and Ida were his children, there were 8 others. Nancy

My Henry Bishop line is through Henry Bishop, b 1705 in Prince Georges county, Va. Died 1782 Spartanburg county, S C. I did my Bishops, starting with Hugh Henry, picking up from the Capt John Bishop line done by Michael Bishop and David Bishop. Side note.
