There is a small handbook published every year on the members of the SC legislature, but I don't know when those handbooks began to be published. I don't know when they were first published but I do have one from 1937. They include a small picture and a short bio on everyone in the SC General Assembly on January 12, 1937. A lot of these people were born in the 1860's & 1870's. Cathy Griffith [email protected]

    3. This information is probably not online. If you are not in South Carolina, you might have some luck writing the Governor's office. (See http://www.myscgov.com) If you are outside South Carolina and are in regular touch with relatives who live in South Carolina, you could try contacting their legislative delegation, and explain EXACTLY what information you would like to get. There is a small handbook published every year on the members of the SC legislature, but I don't know when those handbooks began to be published. The local history and genealogy collection (South Carolina Room) collection at the Main Library of the Greenville County Library System (http://www.greenvillelibrary.org) is outstanding, btw. 3. There is a multi-volume set of books in the SC Department of Archives and History research room listing members of the SC Legislature and their bios. I can't remember the name of the books, only that they have blue bindings imprinted in gold. You can e-mail the Archives for information on getting a photocopy made of the information about your ancestor. Monya Fayette Co. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Scott, Wham, McCullough Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UeB.2ACI/3928 Message Board Post: For many years I have been searching for the name of the ship that Sarah & the children sailed on from Belfast to America. We knew that they landed first in New York before coming on to Charleston, SC. We knew that they took the train from Charleston to Hamburg, SC and then travelled by wagon up the Augusta-Greenville Road (now Hwy 25) to the old McCullough place where her husband waited for them. And we knew that the date was sometime in 1848 based on the testimony of the youngest son who was an infant on the journey. Today I found a ship's passenger list that seems to be Sarah and each of her children with their ages. The ship was the Sea King and it landed in New York on August 29, 1848. Sarah's age is off according to her tombstone and the youngest son, Joseph, is said to have been born at sea, but those kinds of differences seem inconsequential when the children's names and age ranges otherwise match. The children were Robert 17, James 15, William 12, Nancy 9, Jo! hn 7, Archy, 3 and Joseph.
