    1. Forwarded msg. Surnames - BRISSON-RUSS
    2. Donna Witt
    3. From: rmbnc@juno.com To: SCGEORGE-L@rootsweb.com I am sending tis message again...the first was sent via my daughters email account...reply address would be wrong. Thanks RMB Original Message........... We are looking for information about our ancestors Capt. ______ Brisson and Hilduh Russ. Family oral history: Capt._____Brisson came to Georgetown, SC as a member LaFayette's party June 1777. We can find no mention of him as a military officer/soldier, therefore, we assume he was a member of the ship Victorie's crew (if associated with Lafayette at all). Other consideraion; Lafayette did not stay in Georgetown but a couple of days, leaving quickly to join up with Washington at Valley Forge. Capt. Brisson must have been in Georgetown for some time in order to meet, court, and wed Hilduh Russ, a local. What we know: They were married and moved to France. In a letter dated October 2, 1802, thier son, Anthony D Brisson, wrote his mother, Hilduh, and sent the letter to her in care of " John Russ at Barfield Mills on the River Pee Dee, South Carolina". From the letter we learn that his father had recently died in France and his mother and sister had just returned to South Carolina. He was living in Waltham, Mass, at the time with a family friend. In later NC Bladen County census records, he indicates that he too was born in France. He married Comfort Hester of Bladen County, NC, and they raised a family of nine children there. The eldest child was born in 1809. Are there records in Georgetown covering this period? We would like to find any information concerning this couple....his given name, thier marriage date/place, thier children, was John Russ her brother or father? Many questions left open in this branch of the family. Your help is appreciated. Thanks. 1. Middleton's on the Pee Dee River
    2. Pauline Hallett
    3. I am seeking information on Stephen and John MIDDLETON who had land on or near the Pee Dee river before 1800. What I have found is Stephen had a plat for 100 acres on north east side of Pee Dee river in 1792, surveyed 1786. John had a plat for 106 acres near Hans Bay. Both in Georgetown District. Can anyone give me anymore info on this and anything on the two brothers, their wives and children before 1800? Pauline Hallett
