1. Davis and Roberts, 1800>1850, S.C., Georgia, and Alabama
2. Bud Davis
3. Fellow Rooters Following is an outline about what I know about my two families that I am researching in Chester county S.C., Murray county Georgia and Pickens, Greene, and Sumpter counties in Alabama JEREMIAH S. DAVIS, born before 1765- died before 1835 in Chester, county S. C. and his wife FRANCES, born ??- died about 1835 in Chester county S.C., married circa 1775, had the following children. NANCY DAVIS, born about 1787 in S.C., married LARENCE? FOY and moved to Alabama. CALEB DAVIS---No further info JOSHUA DAVIS---Wife HANNAH, lived in Alabama in the 1840’s. Children were: JOHN NANCY LUCINDA PERMELIA WILLIAM RICE DAVIS---Also moved to Alabama STEPHEN DAVIS—Also moved to Alabama WILLIAM DAVIS--- Also moved to Alabama ELISABETH DAVIS---born about 1776 in S. C. , Married ISAAC ROBERTS about 1795 in S. C. and had the following children. NANCY ROBERTS, born about 1797 in S. C. , married JOHN DAVIS, born about 1789 in S. C. They married about 1815 in S. C. when her parents, ISAAC ROBERTS and ELISABETH DAVIS lived in Chester county. FRANCIS ROBERTS, born about 1795 in S.C., married JOSEPH/JOSIA PARROTT, probably in Chester county S. C.. JEREMIAH ROBERTS DAVID ROBERTS ISAAC M. W. ROBERTS WILLIAM ROBERTS ISAAC ROBERTS and his wife ELISABETH DAVIS lived in Chester county S. C. on the head branches of Johns creek of Sandy River until approximately 1820 when they moved to Greenville county S. C.. Is this ISAAC ROBERTS the Isaac Roberts named as a son in the will of the REV. JACOB ROBERTS that died in Laurens county S. C. about 1805? The JOHN DAVIS that married ISAAC ROBERTS daughter, NANCY ROBERTS is a particularly tough problem as I can first locate him with any certainty in the 1850 Murray county Georgia census. I believe but cannot prove, that he might be the son of another JOHN DAVIS that died in Chester county S. C. about 1790. Colonel EDWARD LACEY was mentioned as the guardian for a JOHN DAVIS, son of JOHN DAVIS deceased when indentured the boy to a Saddle maker in 1795 in Chester county. I certainly need and would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions regarding any research resources available or information on contacting other researchers working on these Davis and Roberts surnames. I have a great deal of information I will gladly share with any other person interested in the descendants of these two families. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. 2. Micajah
3. Hi Everyone, I am thinking of starting a page where I can post the addresses of those servers of subscribers who are having their mail bounced. Everyday I get messages of undeliverable mail. I am asking you to respond with an opinion of this. This would be an area where you could check to see if you are being left out and possible why if known. This would be a list of those servers that are refusing the mail messages. If you are on one of them, and you are not receiving the mail, you could check it that way. I would not put any personal addresses there. After three bounces have occurred... The 4th bounce unsubs you from the list. If you think this would be helpful to you, please let me know. Please don't think that my feelings will be hurt if the vote is no, because regardless of the general concensus, I will still get the returned mail messages, only I will continue to delete them as usual. I am just curious if anyone thinks this would help. Thanks Merry Christmas, May all your family be together this Holy Day! 3. Archived Mail Lists....The mail lists are being archived at Rootsweb! Target date for this to begin is 1 December 1997. [Although some messages are already done, due to beta testing] Just wanted to let you know that what you send to the list is saved for future reference. Many queries and surnames, and other information that is posted would be lost without this feature. Now that will not happen, thanks to everyone at Rootsweb. All the information posted will be available for searching by you. I will keep you posted on this new feature for research. Remember it is not yet available but soon will be. If you don't want what you write to be saved and viewed by others later, then don't write it to the list. And please don't post copyrighted material to the list. It shouldn't be done anyway, but be aware that it will be difficult to remove it from the archives mail. We don't want to cause any difficulties. Thanks and keep up the good work! There have been quite a lot of listings that contain information others have asked about in the past. I just didn't have the harddisk space to save them! And couldn't individually contact everyone to ask if they wanted to post on the query pages! The archives will solve that problem. 1. [NC-SC] AIKEN, James & Elizabeth Reid, Fairfield Co., Charleston Co., SC 1770 on
2. Fellow Rooters, James Aiken was a member of the Provincial Congress, Charleston, S.C., from the parish of St. Thomas and St. Denis in 1775. It appears that he then returned to Ballymena, County Antrim, Ireland. This is a matter of more than a little dispute, as a grave for him exists in the Martin-McDowell Cemetery in Fairfield Co., SC. James and Elizabeth Reid Aiken came to America with a group of Protestant Irish immigrants leaving County Antrim, Ireland - the others being the Laws, the McClintocks, and the Martins. They settled in the Little River Section of then Fairfield District, South Carolina. Any connections? Please let me know. This list is only 3 generations, I have six generations of this line and others at my HomePage:http://www.familytreemaker .com/users/m/a/r/Robert-B-Martin/ Descendants of James & Elizabeth Reid Aiken 1 James Aiken Sex: Male b: Abt. 1734 in Ballymena, Co.
