Hello! I have been looking up obituaries and death certificates and find many references to 'Presbyterian Cemetery' in or near Winnsboro, SC. Can anyone tell where this cemetery is located? Is it beside a Presbyterian Church? If so, which one? I want to visit to search for and photograph graves of relatives. Thank you so much! Reno's are Hugenots. Mine were in Va in the early 1700's and then moved to Mecklinburg, Kentucky and onward. A way to find a Reno is to find a fight and we were there, French and indian to the Civil Wars. This sounds interesting. Does anyone know where one can either buy a DVD of the movie or see it on screen? ----- Original Message ----- From: "gbkinard" <> To: <SCCHEST2-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 28, 2006 10:16 AM Subject: [SCCHEST2] new movie about SC family (Adams) > For those of us with South Carolina roots, there is a new movie, Strike > the Tent, that tells the true story of the ADAMS family. > > http://www.strongbowpictures.com/strikethetent/ > > There was also an article in the current issue of Columbia Metropolitan > Magazine that tells how the movie came about. For those of us with South Carolina roots, there is a new movie, Strike the Tent, that tells the true story of the ADAMS family. http://www.strongbowpictures.com/strikethetent/ There was also an article in the current issue of Columbia Metropolitan Magazine that tells how the movie came about. I have scanned that article and for those who have Adams connections and are interested, I can email it to you. I have been researching James ROBB COOK, b. 05/14/1811 in Fairfield County, SC, and d. 1884 in Lagrange, Troup County, GA. I have reason to believe but have not been able to confirm that his father was Thomas J. COOK, who was an inferior court judge in Troup Co, GA. I believe they may be out of the Burrell Cook line but again, have not been able to prove this nor who James' mother was. Karen Goudelock Shalimar, FL
Becky, Is this Christmus/Christmas family originally from NC? There is a Christmas family historian who is extremely active genealogically and has posted lots of info on the web. I don't have her website, but a Google Search should bring something up on her. My surnames are Macon, Kennon, Eppes, Harrison, Woodward, Brunson, Bradford, Singleton, Ashford, Mc Graw, Vann, David, Rice, Cantey, Ezell, Gregory, Gaiither, Martin and so on! Hello! I am researching these names: Brice, Douglas, Land, Thomas, Quinton I have a lot of information on the Brice family, but am looking for more information on my direct line. My great-great-grandmother was Lois Rebecca Brice who married John Thomas Land whose father was Eldridge Hall Land, son of Francis Land and his mother was Nancy Jane Thomas. John's first wife was Emma Sarah Quinton. Of course the Brice family was intermarried with the Douglas family. Lois' parents were James Henry Brice and Mary Emerline Douglass. Linda Hull
Hi! I'm searching for any information on the George Boland or William McCain families and their decendants. Thanks! Melissa
Good morning, Carolyn. Would you know of an AUSTIN/AUSTON who married Elizabeth (Betty) DANIEL bef 1794, perhaps in Fairfield Co., SC, or Hancock Co., GA. Her father was James DANIEL/DANIELL of Craven and Fairfield, SC, who migrated to Hancock Co., GA circa 1790, dieing there in 1797. In James LW&T, he bequeaths land and slaves to "my grandson Jesse Daniell AUSTON, son of Betty AUSTON", but the land is loaned to both his Uncle Levi until Jesse reaches maturity, and other land and slaves loaned to his James' widow until her death. There is reason to believe Jesse's parents may have perished before 1797 when James wrote his will because he did not bequeath anything to Jesse's parents and by 1802, his Uncle Levi's estate is paying for Jesse's board and schooling. Jesse's birth, 9 Sep 1794, was recorded in the Bibles of both his grandfather and his Uncle Levi DANIELL, but we have not found any other records concerning Jesse's AUSTON's parents. Jesse legally changed his surname to DANIELL in 1807, at age 13. The 1850 census, Baldwin County, Georgia, indicates Jesse was born in Georgia, as do census records of his children. I have more information about Jesse, his life, and family. Will gladly share information on this family. You mentioned HATCHER as a surname. My only connection there is to Jeremiah HATCHER of Edgefield County who married 17 June 1819 Mary DANIEL, daughter of William and Lucretia Bell DANIEL, and widow of Josiah L. DANIEL (cousin). Bob Daniell SC surnames: O'DANIEL, DANIELL, DANIEL, RAIFORD, PEARSON, COOK, TAYLOR, HOWELL, ERWIN, and a few more. HI, My gggrandfather, William Holmes McCONNELL, born 16 Sep 1836-died 6 Nov 1903, married Sarah Jane MURRAY, born 15 Dec 1848-died 17 Feb 1933, on 22 Oct 1879. Sarah had a daughter named Margaret Susie MURRAY, born 25 Apr 1873. This indicates to me that Sarah Jane had been married before, but I have been unable to find the record. I would really love to know Sarah Jane's maiden name. Does anyone recognize my gggrandmother? Kathi
