    3. Yippee!! Thank you, Bobby! To save you a little typing, Little River Baptist, Fairfield Co, 1794-1820 are already transcribed and on the web at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~scfairfi/lrbc.htm I've been adding footnotes about the members as I've received them over the years, but would be happy to add more (hint, hint to all you SCFairfield friends!), hotlinks to family sites, etc. Lee Ann -----Original Message----- From: Bobby Rawls [mailto:brrawls@crcom.net] Sent: Thursday, April 07, 2005 7:53 PM To: SCFAIRFI-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [SCFAIRFI] Baptist church records hello all, I have just received 12 microfilm rolls of church records for these counties and states for the years stated. I will begin transcribing them and adding footnotes as I can identifying as many as I can. I do NOT have a microfilm reader, and will have to go to the library and use theirs. It will take me a long time to transcribe all of them but I will do it as I can. I will save up to buy my own reader-printer so I can do it from home. I work 7 days a week from noon til after midnight so it will be a slow process, I will post as I can to the list an index or special records when deaths or marriages may surface, these records date from the 1770's to the mid to late 1800's in the places my RAWLS ancestors lived. perhaps I can help others as I search for my ancestors. thanks and look for updates as I can get them sent out BOBBY RAWLS BIG SPRING, TEXAS NORTH CAROLINA Sandy run baptist church, west Chowan ass. 1773-1804 Yeopin baptist church, chowan ass., 1791-1882 Cashie , Windsor, Bertie co., 1791-1924 Piney grove, Gates co., 1827-1878 SOUTH CAROLINA Little River, Fairfield co., 1794-1820 Crooked un, Fairfield co., 1834-1877, 1883-1907, 1944-1972 Hopewell, Chester co., 1813-1837 Beulah, Richland co., 1806-1883 TENNESSEE Mill creek, Davidson co., 1797-1814 Republican grove, Obion co., 1838-1860 Red River, Robertson co., 1791-1826 Hickman's creek, Smith co., 1840-1981 (scattered) Brown's creek, Haywood co., 1835-1881 I have more ordered and will order more as I can please help identifying families as I post to the list thanks ==== SCFAIRFI Mailing List ==== For directions to unsub http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/usa/SC/fairfield.html ============================== New! 1. McDowells in Fairfield
    2. Jane Thompson
    3. The family was headed by Alexander and Jane (Jane what?) and came there in about 1767-8 when it was Craven District. They had: Andrew, James, Hugh, Jane (Elizabeth), Alexander and Smith. They had probably arrived at Charleston in 1767 from Belfast. (Ship?) They were granted land under Bounty legislation. Elizabeth jane married Ervin Arnet before 1793 and had daughter Esther and others. Alexander Sr died in 1799. Seen his will. James' will was written in 1813. Smith was father of Alexander and William who both went to Pike Co.ALA. Smith died in Pike in 1827. His wife was Jane (who?) Who was Smith named after? Was his mother a Smith? Andrew had a largish family in Fairfield, several girls, 2 boys, in 1800. Then he disappears from census. Wife? Id like to know more about them all especially wives and children. Dont have anything about Hugh. He was living in 1793 when Alex Sr wrote will. I need documentation for I am writing professionally. Thanks! Jane K Thompson

    1. Minor Tidwell
    2. Ancestry.com shows a family for Richard Tidwell b. 22 Nov 1774. I am interested in the son; Minor Tidwell who was born 1817 in SC. I see from the listing of children, that Richard must have traveled back and forth from Fairfield county in SC to Giles county in TN. He had children in both those places. Is that logical for those days? Do you have any explanation for it? I have conflicting info on where Minor was born. I am beginning to realize that there may be two of them; one born in TN and the other in SC. Do you know? I have one Minor listed with a father James, and another Minor listed with a father Richard. Both born abt the same time. What do you know? Are there 2 different Minor Tidwells?Family search has 2 different Minors, but Ancestry has just one, in the family that seems to have lived in both TN and SC. I am getting very confused. Nan

    1. Hiring someone to help
    2. Lee Ann Gerhart
    3. I have found some very interesting things in the SC Com index that I would really like to have, sooner than I could get them myself or by directly through the Archives. I need to optimize between cost and speed. A few items I'd like right away. Other items could be ordered for copying by Archives staff at their normal billing rate, picked up and mailed to me. I would like to hire someone who either lives in Columbia or goes there frequently to make copies of the few items I'd like right away and mail them. And to pick up the stack made by Archives staff when ready and mail those to me. If all items can be done that way with only a small delay, that is fine. I don't need any of these items viewed on microfilm prior to ordering -- hopefully Archives staff will not insist on that. Nor do I need any research done at this point. Just processing of a list as quickly and economically as possible. People have been very kind doing look-ups and sending me things over the years, but I would really like to compensate someone for their time on this. They can use their expertise to keep my costs low at the archives, the copy quality high and the delivery quick! Does anyone have a recommendation of a local researcher who might be interested? Thank you, Lee Ann

    3. What can anyone tell me about Bartholomew Jones? I saw mention of him in a 1794 deed that would indicate he was an adult then. Does anyone know when he was born or died and who he was married to? Is he the same person as "Bash Jones" who belonged to the Little River Baptist church? Another person I am curious about is Jeremiah Harris. He was a neighbor on a plat dated 1771. I do not find any grants to him in the SC Com Index so think he may have inherited the land. Does anyone know anything about him? I am wondering if he might be the son of Charles Harris who was one of the early Sabbatarians who came with Thomas Owen to Fairfield Co, SC in 1752. Any info on Jeremiah would be appreciated. Thank you very much! Lee Ann

    1. Roll Call: Dunkley, Long
    2. Lee Ann Gerhart
    3. Surnames: DUNKLEY, LONG Interested especially in Green Berry Lee Dunkley who was born in SC in 1800. His grandfather would be: John Dunkley Sr. born about 1721 in Pennsylvania, moved to Rowan Co, NC about 1750 and to Fairfield Co, SC about 1771. He soon married Sarah, last name unknown. They had 2 sons, Richard & John born 1775 & 1778, respectively. John Sr. died a loyalist in 1782. These sons, John & Richard moved to Mississippi in 1810, but not apparently with Green Berry Lee Dunkley. Was he the son of either of them? A son of one of their sisters? Neither John nor Richard's estates show Green Berry Lee Dunkley as a son. Green Berry Lee Dunkley who was born in SC in 1800. His first appearance in records is in 1821 when he married Izett Long, the widow of William Richardson and the daughter of James Long. She was 16-20 years his senior. In 1833 they moved to Fayette Co, TN and in 1839 moved to Texas. In 1845, he married a widow in Mississippi. I can find nothing to prove who his parents are and that has been the goal of many a trip to the SC Archives. WOULD APPRECIATE: I would love any and every scrap on the Dunkleys in Fairfield Co, SC, especially on the lookout for anything for Green Berry Lee Dunkley prior to 1833 or anything that would show some kinship or guardianship or anything to anybody in Fairfield Co. SC. I have found very little for him outside of deed and census records and would appreciate everyone keeping an eye out for this rare, rare name. Thank you! 3. I am looking for info. on the REV. GABRIEL RAWLS, my 5th great-grandfather. he was born circa 1720 in NANSEMOND CO.VA. or possibly ENGLAND. He moved with his brother LUKE RAWLS to CRAVEN CO., SC. about 1769. They lived on CRAIN CREEK. LUKE was cut off into FAIRFIELD CO., & GABRIEL into RICHLAND CO. I have a lot of info. on LUKE RAWLS from FAIRFIELD CO., but NEED all the info. I can get on GABRIEL in RICHLAND CO. He sold some of his land to SAMUEL INGRAM which was later sold again and mentions GABRIEL & his wife ELIZABETH. This was in the early 1800's. GABRIEL & LUKE Both moved to ROBERTSON CO., TN. by this time where LUKE died about JULY 1800. SHADRACH RAWLS also showed up there the son of JAMES RAWLS, SR. & SHADRACH'S brother BENJAMIN RAWLS also lived in RICHLAND CO., SC. Leaving behind several family members in the RICHLAND CO., area. BENJAMIN was a Silversmith, clocksmith and builder of coffins. JAMES RAWLS, SR. father of JAMES, JR., BENJAMIN & SHADRACH RAWLS were possibly a son of HARDY RAWLS of NANSEMOND CO., VA. Who was most likely a brother to "OLD LUKE RAWLS" father of LUKE, GABRIEL & JESSE RAWLS. Other names associated with these RAWLS were ,`COON, KINSLER, TRAPP, HAYGOOD, FERGUSON, LEWIS, NEAL, BASS, BEASLEY, McWHORTER. Among others.
