Ethel says she has no evidence that ASHLEY-DUCKENFIELD had children named Jeremiah or Rachel. I checked my files and these are random notes I have. I have notes for one William Ashley Accomack CO. VA. Listed in Vol. 1, p. 425, Accomack Co. VA Patent Books, September, 1663, Edmond Scarburgh received 1450 acres of land for transporting 4 persons, William Ashley, Elizabeth Bydolph, Edward Fleetwood and Robert Fleetwood. It is speculated that this William may have been a brother to John Ashley, 1625-1671, who was rejected by Lady Jane. The story says he came to the colonies first, but he could have gone back to England, then returned. Possibly decendents of William are Charles (will 1724-1736), m. Sarah ?, lived in New Kent VA, had daughter, Eleanor, son Ezekiel (will 1764). Ezekiel had John, c 1730, d. 1762-68, m. Mary Norfleet. Among John's children, a son Nathaniel, who was apprenticed to Fleetwood in 1770. Also son Joseph, m. Sara Barrows. Joseph, Chowan Co. had a son William (will 1783) This William had a son Jeremiah. Another William in the same time frame (1600s) is William b. ca1699, d. ca 1762, m. Duchenfield,Chowan NC, SC. This William had sons Nathaniel, 1730-1800 Camden and Anson Co. NC, SC, GA, m. Jean Williams; Robert, ca 1728, m. a Polly; Charles 1726-? m. Norfleet (Felisha?) Orange NC, Edgefield, SC. These brothers were Tories and their land in NC was confiscated. Nathaniel had a son William, 1763-1839, m. Mary Raines, Anson Co. NC, Coffee Co. GA. Robert had a son William, and Charles had a son William 1750-1806. Charles is my probable ancestor. There is a William, Norfolk VA, 1724. A William m. Mary Flowers, Lumberton NC, Montegomery AL (son of John Plowman, who had a son William. There is a William 1700-?, m. a Mary, Kent CO.
