Billie Jones -------------------------------------------- Elizabeth Jay Schichier COLUMBIA - Memorial service for Elizabeth Jay "Betty" Schichler, 91, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation following the service. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 209 S. Sumter St., Columbia, S.C. 29201 or Pets, Inc., 300 Orchard Dr.,, West Columbia, S.C. 29170. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Mrs. Schichler, wife of the late Ernest Andrew Schichler, died Saturday, May 5, 2007 . Born in Johnston, she was a daughter of the late Alfred Clarence and Carrie Huiet Jay. As a civil service employee, she worked at the Veterans Administration, the Internal Revenue Service and retired from the Veterans Hospital. She did volunteer work at Harvest Hope Food Bank, Manor Care and the Richland Country Library on Garners Ferry Road. Mrs. Schichler attended Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are son, Ernest A. Schichler, Jr. of Arlington, Va.; brothers, Joseph C. Jay of West Columbia and Wilbur H. Jay of Lexington; and sisters, Mary Lou Graham of Surfside Beach and Virginia Russey of Atlanta, Ga. She was predeceased by brother, Jeff Jay. Mrs. Schichler will be remembered for her smile, loving hugs, sending cards and her genuine care for others. www.dunbarfunerals.com
