Greg, this was in todays (Sunday) paper. I have an Alvin Matthews b. ca 1913, but don't have the Hoyt name with it. I don't know if the Alvin I have, son of Pierce Tillman and Corrie Bedenbaugh Matthews, is her husband or not. My 1913 date of birth for this Alvin comes from the only census that I have with him in it: 1920 Saluda Co, SC, Germantown, p. 30, hh#313/306, with parents, age 7. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Concord Baptist Church. She will be placed in the church one hour before the service with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. Elton Dunbar officiating. Pallbearers will be Marty and Adam Matthews, Ken Cannon, Randall and Jamie Oswalt and Robert Miller. Mrs. Matthews was born in Leesville, daughter of the late Felder and Sallie Fox Burkett. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, W.M.C. and Adult Sunday School Class. Surviving are her husband of 73 years, Alvin Hoyt Matthews, Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Hoyt (Sylvia) Matthews, Jr. of Batesburg, John E. Matthews of Saluda, Larry W. Matthews, Jimmy (Pam) Matthews all of Lexington; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Rankin of Lexington, Jane (Carlon) Oswalt of Leesville, Ann (Harvey) Amick of Prosperity, Carolyn Reeder of Gilbert; brother, Carl Burkett of Cayce; 21 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; four gg-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. tonight at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can made to Concord Baptist Church, 860 N.
