    3. The following newspaper notice appeared in the Augusta Chronicle [Georgia] on April 17, 1812. "ABSCONDED, on 20 March 1812, Roswell Blair, native of Massachusetts, of middle size, slovenly appearance, and sharpish countenance, cautious and hesitating in his speech, of subtle aspect and pliant manners. Had been employed for 12 months as tanner and currier at farm of JOHN FOX in Edgefield District, SC. Blair is believed to have committed a robbery, and fled toward Natchez. Reward of $50 was offered for his conviction."
