Hello List Members, In response to the recent roll call going on the Edgefield list, I am cross posting to the Aiken County list as well. One of the posters gave the surname of BURKHALTER. Can anyone identify the Catherine Ann Burkhalter whose death on June 17, 1881, is listed in the WHITLOCK BIBLE TRANSCRIPTION below. What was her connection to the Whitlock family of Edgefield District/County, South Carolina? I think I tried to find her on the 1880 census, but was not successful in identifying her. For those of you on the lists who are members of the Augusta, Georgia, Genealogical Society, I am fairly sure that the Benjamin Franklin Whitlock whose birth is also listed in this Bible is the same man whose picture is included in a framed group of picture of Confederate Veterans now hung in the Society's library and was mentioned in their recent newsletter. According to his microfilmed funeral inforamtion at Elliot's Funeral Home in Augusta his mother's maiden anme was RANDAL. I need to fit her into the Trenton/Horn's Creek Randal family. Who was Jenny Lou who died in 1843??? Some of the others listed are known BOOTH connections. Winfrey Whitlock m. Elizabeth Booth, daughter of James. They were the paretns of James Whitlock, Sr. One of my great grandmothers was the Emma Frances Whitlock b. 1865. She married Ed/Edward/Edmund Carpenter c. 1883-4. Some of the Bibile dates do not exactly match the census in that if they are listed on the census, but the birth year is later. Either two children had the same name or the year is wrong in the Bible. All help appreciated.
