    3. Dorothy, This is a long shot but thought I'd send this since you listed AL as a Garner state you are researching. I have a copy of a handwritten document sent to my late great grandmother. Unfortunately it is unsigned. The last paragraph reads, "I am sure all these names and dates are correct. If you can read them. I am so shakey these day's." Here is some of the information in the document. Notes are [brackets] are my comments. "My Great Grand Father was - Sturdy Garner - and he married Sarah Smith March 15, 1785 - " "My Grand Father was Daniel H Garner [b. 1806] and he married Cathrine Wood Drinkwater [in another handwriting is written "md May 12, 1838 - Greene Co Ala. Bk 15, pg 325 - note of Mother Thomas"] Then the document provides names and birth dates of 10 children. The names are: 1. John R. Garner 2. Helen King Garner 3. Septaneus D. Garmer 4. Marallus C. Garner 5. Sturdy G. Garmer 6. William A. Garner 7. Martha W. Garner 8. Valeria C. Garner 9. Octavia J. Garner 10. Sallie Burton Garner (my mother) [Note: Sallie Burton Garner married James W. Carter Jan. 26, 1880. So, the writer of this document must have been a Carter.] There are more dates on the document. If you'd like the complete information, let me know. There are no birthplaces or places of death given for any of these people. I am not descended from Garners, but my great grandmother's sister married Dr. Daniel Naylor Garner b. 1878 in Kemper Co., MS. My great grandmother was probably helping her sister with Garner research.
