Searching for information on Martha who was the wife of McKinney Melton. I do not believe she was the dau of Daniel Rogers, as she is not mentioned in his probate. She was born 24 Feb 1777, and died ca 1830 probably in Houston Co GA. McKinney Melton was b ca 1777, probably in Edgefield Dist SC. He died Oct 1840, Macon Co GA. I suspect their marriage was ca 1796. Children born to this marriage were: Jane, Elbert William, Polly Ann/Lucretia, Matthew, Henry Sampson, Margaret Mariah, Stephen Jefferson. First mention of them together was as a witness to a bond OCt 16, 1797, Edgefield Dist SC, where McKinney Melton and Marthy his wife witness a bond between Frederick Williams, Isaac Reed, WIlliam Melton, Elisha Wilson, Daniel Rogers and E-- Crow. The people in the bond were heirs to Daniel Rogers Sr. I suspect the witnessing by McKinney and Martha were more a function of a connection between McKinney Melton and William Melton than between Martha and Daniel Rogers.
