I have further information on a Walker Family in Edgefield District, South Carolina, that connects to my Whitlock Family in the same area. I have not been able to match up any of the 1860 Walker Census information to this family. Any ideas anyone. Information is from the estate record of her mother who died July 1860 Edgefield District, South Carolina. The Whitlocks lived just south of the Pine Log House/Trenton. She is the 7th child on the list of heris of Winfrey Whitlock, Sr. and Elizabeth Booth Sarah Whitlock b. c. 1815 d. before 1860 m. William Walker Seven children: George Walker Dan'l Walker William Walker James Walker Mariah m Wane Leopard Elizabeth m. Wm E. Fowler John Walker m. ? Angella Walker William Walker, Jr. Alvenah Walker & Supposed to have a child by his last wife. List of Heirs in Estate is not clear whether these last three were John children or his siberlings. Have not been able to match these up with the 1860 census of Edgefield. Any ideas anyone. I first researched this family over 30 years aago. One of my great grandmothers was a Whitlock from Trenton m. a Carpenter. A new Walker Bible is available for researchers. The Family Bible of Samuel Walker, jr, of Edgefield SC and Madison County, AL, is now transcribed in print and available online at: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/r/u/s/Judith-F-Russell with the kind permission of the this month's edition of the QUILL, journal of the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society, mailed November 1, 2004. (If you get an URL "error" message for that address, rootsweb suggests that you turn off your computer and reboot or "dump the cache." The URL above is correct and working.) Samuel Walker, jr, was the son of Samuel and Martha-Jefferson Bell Walker of Edgefield SC in Revolutionary Times. The Bible lists formerly unknown birth and death dates for Samuel Jr, and for his sisters. It also clears up some previously noted discrepancies in the Edgefield records as well as confirms the link to the Bell family of Albemarle Parish. Two otherwise unknown siblings are listed. Our heartfelt thanks go to Emmitte Walker of Austin TX, owner of the Bible pages, who arranged for the photocopying and transmission of the pages, which have been in his family for over 150 years. What a thrill for Walker researchers! (And for more info about the QUILL and The Old Edgefield Genealogical Society Website go to http://oedgs.org ) Look forward to your questions and comments, Judy Russell Bogart, GA ==== SCEDGEFI Mailing List ==== 1.No spamming 2.No flaming 3.No off topic posts 4.Absolutely no commercial use of this list 5 :)
