The following was transcribed from the microfilm collection of the Camden Archives and Museum, Camden, SC. As with all transcriptions, they are open to typos and errors. So, when I found a significant conflict in the data I had, and the cem. records, I went to the Archives to recheck to check to see if I had made the error. This one was correct as copied, but the death certificate itself seems to contain the error. Please post any additions/corrections to the list. Contact me personally for additional info. available on the family. (S) Barnes, Rt. 5, Saluda Co, SC buried: Hickory Grove Church UT: Baxter & Son, Newberry, SC Boy something is wrong here! I rechecked the death cert. and the age given at death is definitely 28 yrs. The year of birth has been written over several times and is impossible to read. However, check out this cem. record from Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church, Saluda Co, SC Barnes, Eva Feb 19 1899 Feb 8 1975 **Barnes, Kittie H. [HAZEL] Jun 2 1866 Jun 8 1925 Barnes, Eli M. Feb 25 1861 Feb 11 1939 [Eli Matthew, husband to Kitty] Barnes, Ella C. Apr 19 1894 Dec 15 1917 Dates from cem. records makes her age 59. Another difference.... the father's name does LOOK like Benny on the original death cert, but I believe it to be Berry Hazel. Census records support the birth date in cem. and the father's name as follows: CENSUS: 1860 Edgefield Co, SC, Big Creek PO, (p. 64), hh#484/485 [Augusta Gen. Society book transcription, p. 324.] L. B. Hazel in the death certificates, nor his wife Martha, so presume they died before 1915. I think I found them in Butler Methodist Church Cem records sent to me by HC Ouzts as follows: Hazel, Martha A. May 28 1834 - Jul 28 1892 Hazel, L. B. Jul 13 1831 - Jan 29 1899 The informant on Kittie H. Barnes' death certificate is probably Arthur Smith Barnes, Grandfather of Robert Barnes <[email protected]>.
