Page 31 March 24th 1783. The last Will and Testament of ROBERT MELVILL late of 96 District, dated 12 Sept. 1782 was proved the 24th March 1783 by NICHOLAS MAXWELL one of the subscribing witnesses. The other witness WILLIAM MAXWELL. ROBERT MAXWELL on of the executors named in the will qualified; the other MARY MELVILL executrix and JOHN MAXWELL not qualified. Letters of Testamentary granted ROBERT MAXWELL without a warrant of appraisement as the said Testor having Willed and Bequeathed his whole estate by Legacies to the several Legaties therein named, and as specified. The said ROBERT MAXWELL acting executor to return into the Ordinary's office of the said District (within the year prescribed by law) a just and true Inventory, together with a list or Schedule of the Book Acounts of the said Testor. 25th June 1783. An Inventory together with a list or Schedule of debts due to the said estate was returned by ROBERT MAXWELL and filed in this office and Recorded in page 57 and 58 of this Book. "ROBERT MAXWELL may wear all my Bodyly apparel, both made and unmade, both at White Hall, at my Plantation and at General WILLIAMSON'S Plantation, all my books and indeed all I have in the world more than what I have mentioned above except a horse, saddle and bridle, a cow and calf to JOHN MILLER, but the said MILLER to serve out his time first with MAXWELL, likewise the bed and furniture above mentioned you are to have I mean MAXWELL, the remainder of my Stock of Cattle Horses a boy named Charles, Jack, Box, Joe and negro Sue a winch, all debts due me which either appear in my Books or in notes of hand, and out of which he will pay my funeral expenses and at my Wifes death he is to posess the two old negroes named Duncan and Bett with what children they may have after writing this, and all my household goods my wife has at my Death, an Inventory of which is to be taken, this I ordain ROBERT MAXWELL to have and his heirs forever at her death."
