    2. This one is slightly confusing. The first abstract says he has a will and the second says he died intestate and than there is a will. It is possible this is two separate JOHN DICK'S although Beech Island would fall under Granville Co. Page 4 JOHN DICK, his last Will and Testament executed 21st day of April anno Dom. 1776, was probated in Ordinary's Office the 8th day of April 1782, by ALEXANDER NEWMAN a subscribing witness, the other witnesses ANN NEWMAN and JOHN NEWMAN. MARY DICK, widow appointed Executrix, qualifyed as such. JOSEPH DICK, son, the other executor, not qualfyed. Warrant of appraisement given and dedimus directed to WILLIAM DUNBAR, Esq. to qualify such appraisers. 26th Nov 1782 Renewed the Warrant of appraisement. 21 December 1782 said Warrant of appraisement and Inventory Returned to the Ordinary's office. Recorded in page 76 of theis Book. Page 76 Inventory and appraisement of the estate of JOHN DICK of Beech Island, 96 Dist., intestate, made 12-10-1782 by MICHAEL MEYER, JOHN STURZENEGGER, NATHANIEL HOWELL sworn appraisers, MARY DICK, acting executrix. Slaves Sam, Augustine, Prince, Cunnon, Phebee, Sylvia, Sarah, Rose, cattle, carts, stocks, tools, "1 silver hilted sword small sword L35", "1 Mahogany Bedstedd", pewter, "11 Queens ware plates", for a value of L5946.4.0. No sale returned. Examined and certified by PAT. CALHOUN, Surrogate for JOHN E CALHOUN, Esq. Ordinary. Page 27 Will of JOHN DICK of Granville Co. SC, signed 4-20-1776. Wife MARY and her small children to have the whole estate. At her death the land and slave Sam pass to son JOSEPH DICK. Other land to be retained until the young children grow up and marry. Three sons WILLIAM, JOHN, and THOMAS and other slaves to work the land for the support of the family. JOSEPH to manage the estate and support "his Sisters untill they are grown up". Stock to be divided among four youngest children, not named. (part loss) Wife and son JOSEPHnamed executors. Signed 4-21-1776.(date change) Witnessed by ANN NEWMAN, JOHN NEWMAN, ALEXANDER NEWMAN.
