I claim not that these are correct and free of errors, but that they were compiled in earnest by a cousin of my grandmother, the daughter-in-law of Sallie Eugenia Collins, and handed down to me in earnest. I am just transcribing them and posting them here in hopes something will ring a bell and I will meet cousins I never met before. --Jessica Thompson Eustice Of Durham, NC (search for me on Google, I am for-real.) Generation Five Martha Jane Harrison and Elbert Harling had the following children: At the present writing I have info on a Frank S. Harling and Nora Harling only. 1. Frank s. Harling married Mary _____. Second marriage was to Mary Faulkner in 1880 at Graniteville, S. C. by reverend homas Walker. He died Jan 14, 1930. 2. Noral Harling born October 20, 1861, died March 3, 1936. My husband remembers very pleasantly Nora Harling, as she was a spinster lady who visited his mother. Mary Susannah Harrison and James Collins had the following children: 1. Mary Ann Collins b. 1846 2. Gibson Harrison Collins b. 1848 3. James Pickens Collins b. 1850 4. Sara Eugenia Collins b. 1852 5. Susan Maria Collins b. 1854 6. Thomas Efford (Effort?) Colllins b. 1857 7. Edward Collins b. 1859 1. Mary Ann Collins born Oct. 2, 1846, died Jan 18, 1850 2. Gibson Harrison Collins. Born July 17, 1848 died ____. This is Tone or Toney. At age of 15 he ran away and joined the Confederate States Army. He died many years later in the Confederate Home in Atlanta, GA. No info on whom he married. 3. James Pickens Collins born September 27, 1850 died Jan 26, 1936. He is buried at Johnston, S.C. He married Susan Morrison. [He was Jessica Thompson Eustices great grandfather. My grandmother has added in her own writing that he married a second time, Mary Josephine Holley. ] 4. Sara Eugenia Sallie Collins: Born Nov. 18, 1852, died October 12, 1926. She is buried in Graniteville. Sara Eugenia worked in the weave room of the Graniteville Mfg. Co. and there met William Marion Martin who also worked there. They were married at home in Graniteville about 1880. Wm Martin was on the Board of Stewards of the Methodist Church in Graniteville. We have a charming picture of Sallie, Bill and their three children.[sic] My Husband says he remembers being all dressed up for the occasion of going to Augusta to have their pictures made. He was nine, Brother five, and baby sister was posed sitting on mamas lap. Some sixteen or seventeen years later Wm Martin went to Alabama to live, marrying there and has a family in Sylacauga, Ala. He is buried in Sylacauga. I do not know if the Tillman family ever lived close to the Collins family, but I do know that Francis Miller Tillman who afterwards became a Mrs. Simpson was a lifelong friend of Sara Eugenia Collins Martin. As an old lady Mrs. Simpson also lived in Graniteville, and is remembered by Mary Glover Cooper. On a recent visit to South Carolina we went to the old Simpson Home. It is in a very bad state of repair and will not stand much longer. It was interesting to note how it was put together wilth wooden pegs instead of nails. There was also an interesting staircase which we did not dare ascend fearing the walls would fall on us. Mrs. Tillman says this was Chester. From there we went to the cemetery where the Tillman family is buried. This is near the Presbyterian Church called High View. It is built on a hill and was organized May 20, 1877. We noted at the time that it did not have a gallery for slaves, but were unaware of the reason. Station was established at the invitation of B.R. Tillman and his sisters at the Pavillion of the Hussars near the residence of Mr. Tillman. The Church was built on Tillman property and dedicated in November 1883. From there we went to Lanham Springs. This was a favorite picnic grounds of the early days, and here was held a reunion of survivors of Company I and Company K of the 24th Regiment South Carolina Volunteers commanded by General Ellison Capers, Sept 4, 1891. Congressman Geo. Tillman was present and Gov. Tillman was present. (correct). Since the Harrison men and their relatives and our grandfather Collins were in the 24th of the S.C. Volunters, it is interesting to note here that they saw hard service and served in Hoods Tennessee Campaign and especially the battle of Franklin. 5. Susan Maria Collins born Dec. 16, 1854 died September 1917. She married William John Glover (Born june 19, 1839, died May 26, 1901) married at Graniteville, S.C. sbout 1874. Both she and William Glover are buried in Graniteville Cemetery. While we were in South Carolina, Mary Cooper showed us some early pictures of her father and mother. We also have an interesting later picture of Susan Collins Glover. 6. Thomas Effort (Efford?) Collins born April 10, 1857, died Jan 24, 1923. Married Jane Owens (born 1856 died 1932.) They were married in 1876 and both are buried at Graniteville. 7. Edward Collins born 1859 died May 10, 1923. Married Anna Lott. They are both buried in Graniteville. The Hunter family at one time lived in Edgefield. S.C. and Dr. Hunter brought my husband into this world [sic] and remained his closest friend until his death. My Husband says many times Dr. Hunter reminisced about belonging to the Red Shirts and has often told him tales of the Ellenton riots. The marriage of Lilly Hunter Martin and James Martin was early dissolved. Lilly Martin for a time lived in North Augusta, later Florida, and died in New Orleans, La. After her death James Martin who by that time had come to Alabama, Married Lillian Fritz of Mobile, Ala. March 7, 1932. In World War I, James martin was Capt.
