Polatty, Columbia, SC buried: Elmwood Cem. [Columbia, SC] UT: McCormick Funeral Home, Columbia, SC He is the son of James Pleasant Polatty and one of his 3 wives. The above death certificate does not give his birthdate but the age 49 works out to be ca 1866. However, to check and see if he was buried in Elmwood of Columbia, SC or Elmwood of Greenwood, I looked for him in the book "Interment Records of Elmwood Cem., Columbia, SC V. l, 1819 - 1939, Columbia Chapter SCGS, 2002. He IS buried in Columbia and his date of birth is given as Sept 25, 1860, which works with census records of his father's household. This puts him as the son of wife #2, Louisa Matilda Thornton. *Greenwood Co, SC was not formed until 1897, so his birth in 1860 would be either Abbeville or Edgefield Co, SC Family is found in CENSUS 1860 Edgefield Co, SC, Pheonix PO, p. 31 hh# 227/228 [book transcription, not original census] so I would assume he was born in Edgefield Co. ......... 2 Albert BULLOCK b: Abt. 1869 ............. +Susan (Susie) FREELAND ......... 2 Anna Lula BULLOCK b: July 04, 1871 d: December 16, 1890 Burial: Proctor Cemetery, Greenwood Co., SC ......... 2 David Manly BULLOCK b: March 04, 1873 d: November 28, 1934 Burial: McCormick City Cem, McCormick, McCormick Co, SC ............. +Ruth HICKS Burial: Saluda Co, SC ......... *2nd Wife of David Manly BULLOCK: ............. +Mattie S. BULLOCK] b: December 01, 1895 d: May 03, 1896 Burial: Proctor Cemetery, Greenwood Co., SC COMMENTS: Pleasant Burnett, his wife and several family members, including David Cunningham Bullock are buried in Proctor Cemetery located in Greenwood Co. ca 5 mi south of Ninety Six on State Hwy 246 just past the intersection of road #132. The Proctor Cemetery can't be seen from the road. Road #132 ( Aull Mill Rd ) does not cross Hwy 246. It's on the left (coming south from Ninety-Six) as is the cemetery which is about 1/8-1/4 mile past it - the first "path to the left after the phone box behind the house on the corner of Aull Mill and 246. The cemetery has a bad "road" which you can drive part way up if your car is not to low to the ground. The cem. is only about 30 yards in from the road. Pleasant's stone is very faded but it can be read. Compiler has pictures of many of the tombstones. Artemesia Burnett Bullock is the youngest daughter of Pleasant Burnett and Artemesia Carter.
