I had her marriage to Joseph Buffington, Jr. who is buried at Old Gassaway UMC Church Cemetery and her marriage to Joseph Elijah Berry who is buried next to her at Trinity. But who is the Palmer??? Also notice that this obit indicates that Barr's Chapel is in Elizabeth County. the only Barr's Chapel anyone knows anything about is the one in Edgefield. Her parents are not listed there, but could be in one of the unmarked graves. Thought this might interest someone. Connie Aged Lady Passes - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth C. Berry, known to her host of friends as "Aunt Mollie" and the wife of Mr. Joe Berry, passed on to her reward at her home about 5 miles north west of Saluda at the age of 81 years, 7 months, 14 days of June 17, 1931. Mrs. Berry was born on November 3, 1849, the daughter of John Jacob Long and Martha E. (Fulmer) Long. The sacred ashes of these dear ones have slept in their narrow home in Barr's Chapel Church, Elizabeth County (Edgefield?), since 1892 and 1896, respectively. Although Mrs. Berry had been in bed for nearly a year and suffered intensely she never lost her cheerfil disposition until the last few hours when her pain became so intense that seh became unconscious. She was beloved by all who knew her in the beauty of her Christian life and kindly disposition to all with whom she came in contact. One has gone from among us, whom both friends and family will miss, and whose place can never be filled, but we are comforted with the fact that we can go where she is, if she can't return to us. She has been a member of the Lutheran church since ealry in life. However, the names of the different churches to which she belonged, are not known, she has for more than 25 years been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at which place whe was laid to rest, among crowds of friends who had learned to love her and the bereaved family who mourn the loss of their loved one. Funeral services were conducted from the church with Rev. Lewis Koon in charge. Special music was offered by Mess [sic] A. T. Goff, J. N. DeLoache, Zeb Coleman. Interment took place on the family plot in the churchyard. Mrs. Berry is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. J. C. Thomas, Danville, Va., three sons, W. E. Palmer, Greenwood; Mose W. Buffington, Edgefiedl; J. L. Buffington, Saluda. Two children went on before her, a daughter in 1888 and a son in 1908. Twenty-five grandchildren and eight great grand children are left.
