Searching for a connection between the Pope, Stringer and Travis families of Edgefield County, South Carolina. My great great great grandfather Jefferson Davis Stringer was born in Edgefield County, South Carolina in 1811. He married my grtgrtgrt grandmother Jane Pope in November 1833/34 in Harris County, Georgia. Jefferson Stringer's parents were Jonathon Stringer and Martha Williams. I have found recent information that points my Jane Pope's family to the Travis family of Edgefield County, SC. The only info I have on my Jane Pope is that she was born in Georgia in 1813 and died very young in 1846 in Harris County, Georgia. She was the mother to my grtgrt grandmother Melissa Stringer Hollis. With the recent info I've found I thought maybe she was also born in Edgefield County, SC and traveled to Harris County, GA with my grtgrtgrt grandfather Jefferson Stringer. Jefferson Stringer was also a Primitive Baptist Preacher. He married two more times after Jane Pope died, to Nancy Myhand and Caroline Myhand, they were sisters. Jefferson and Caroline moved our family to Texas around 1860. I thought someone else who has researched these families might be able to help me out.
