I'm hoping someone can help me out with getting a more detailed description of the will of a Susannah Mathis who died in 1839. Most likely "Mathis" should be "Mathews", but that was a common alternative spelling. A very brief summary of her will appears in "Abstracts of Wills, Edgefield County, South Carolina" compiled and printed by Delwyn Associates in 1973, p. 111: =========================== SUSANNAH (x) MATHIS signed: Sept. 23, 1839 proven: Oct. 21, 1839 son: Lewis Grand children: John and Mary Mathis children of son Timothy, dec'd. Hillary Hardy and Nowel Crouch children of daughter Alez Crouch, dec'd. Executor: son Lewis Witnesses: Wm. Hardy, Arthur West, Bud Mathews p. 92 =========================== I looked through all of my Edgefield County will and equity books, but I can't find a more detailed description of this will. I've found other errors in this book and I want to see if there is an error in this summary with regards to: 1) Was Hillary Hardy really named as a child of "Alez Crouch"? 2) Was there a misprint with the name of "Alez" Crouch? Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Regards Greg Matthews
