Powell, 72, died at 5 o'clock yesterday afternon at the residence at Graniteville, SC after an illness of three weeks. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon at Graniteville Methodist Church, the Rev. M. W. Lever officiating, assisted by the Rev. O. E. Tebow and the Rev. Thomas Walker. Interment will be in the churchyard cemetery. He is survived by one son, Joe Powell, of Graniteville and several neices and nephews. He said that the Methodist church of Graniteville is Saint John"s United Methodist Church on Gregg St. and it has no connection to the Graniteville Cem. And the church has no graveyard. I checked the 1870 & 1880 census records and found John D. with a Lewis Powell and wife (1880) same as 1870, Caroline Unknown. to connect him to his parents. The body will be at the Edgefield Mercantile funeral Home until the hour of the funeral Mrs. Rearden was a native of the Plum Branch section of Old Edgefield Co and had lived in Edgefield for 32 years. She retired a year ago after a long period of service as clerk at Reel's Market. Survivors are two daughters: Mrs Griffis and Mrs. Harvey William of Valdosta, GA; to sons, james Rearden and Lawrence Rearden of Edgefield; two sisters, Mrs. Olin Bryan of Edgefield and Mrs. W. L. REARDEN, 69, Dies at Graniteville Graniteville, SC - June 16, 1007, George Baker Rearden, 69, lifelong resident of Graniteville, died after an illness of nine weeks. Funeral services will be held at the St. John Methodist church in Graniteville Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock with the Rev. James G. Strord officiating. Interment will be in the Graniteville cem. The body will be at Posey's Funeral Home until the hour of the funeral. Pallbearers will be Ollie Moyer, A. T. Washington, Amos Hudson, Hess Minor, Alvie McKay and Kennith Gay. Mr. Rearden was a member of the St. John Methodist Church. He was the son of the later Robert Rearden and the late Mrs. Susan Rearden.
