I am working on the following trying to verify information from several sources, including the following obit is among the clippings in the scrapbook of Ella Ruth Hazel Trotter, no date nor the newspaper in which it was published is given. H. P. Edwards, 60 of Johnston Dec. 14, (Special) - H. P. Edwards, 60 died at Self Memorial Hospital at 9:30 this morning after several years of declining health. A veteran of WWI, he was clerk and deacon of the Richland Springs Baptist Church for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Idelle Bodie Edwards, one son, Elbert C. Edwards, one grandson Clark Edwards of Ward. Six sisters, Mrs. O. W. Watson of Columbia, Mrs. O. W. Black of Saluda, Mr. C. S. Holmes and Mrs. L. L. Holmes of Johnston and Mrs. J. B. Parrish and Mrs. Werner Trotter of Ward, and one brother, S. M. Edwards of Saluda. Services will be conducted from Richland Springs Baptist Church.... Interment will be in Red Bank Cem. at Saluda..... W. Black. I have worked on the family and seems that Mrs. O. W. Black has to be Sallie Lucille Edwards b. ca 1900. However, the only O. W. Black that I found in the following census information seems too old. I compared them to cem. records of Good Hope Lutheran and it seems to be Olando William Black Sr. (1880-1965) and wife Mary Ella Padgett Black (1879-1963) CENSUS: 1920 Saluda Co, SC, township #2, Tillman Dist, p. 50, FM #348/350 Olando W. Black, son, 2yr 10 mo, SC SC SC This informatioin makes it unlikely that this is the husband of Sallie Lucille Edwards. Maybe the son, O. W. Black born ca 1907 is the husband of Sally??? I don't have access to the 1930 census on my Heritage Quest connection thru my public library. Can anyone help me prove this connection of Olando W.
