    3. In helping a Chapman researcher look for some info. on her Chapman connections, I looked up the cem. records of some of the family in a file sent to me by Mr. Ouzts on Good Hope Lutheran Church. In that record it gave the following dates: Turner, James E. Jan 16 1861 Mar 7 1946 Turner, Emma CHAPMAN Nov 25 1860 Feb 19 1944 Chapman, Ellen Jan 1834 May 24 1914 Margie King sent me the following obit which is over a month off from the cem. record: The State Paper Thursday Jan 6, 1944 Mrs. James E. Turner Dies at Homes of Daughter in Batesburg, Rites Today Mrs. Emma Chapman Turner, 84 of Ridge Spring, died this afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Homer Hartley of Batesburg. She was a daughter of the late Jackson and Mrs. Ellen Forrest Chapman of the Good Hope section of Saluda county. Surviving are her husband James E. Turner; three sons, J.C. of Sumter, C. W. of Bath and D. H. of Augusta, two daughters Mrs. H. S. Fallaw of Ridge Spring and Mrs. Hartley, also a brother, Henry of Batesburg. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 Thursday afternoon from the Good Hope Lutheran church. Internment will be in the church cemetery. Now her death certificate gives her death as a day earlier than her obit and a month earlier that the cem. record, and it CONFIRMS her parentage. Remember, the date of death on a death Cert. and the cause of death are PRIMARY SOURCES, as they are made out by the Dr. and at the time of the death. All other info. is secondary. 1944 - Death Cert. #0860, Lexington Co, SC Emma Chapman Turner Female, White, married to James E. Turner, lived in Ridge Springs, SC b.
