Please excuse the cross-posting - does anyone have any MATHIS/MATTHEWS + BRYANT connections that went from Edgefield to Autauga County, AL and then on to Shelby/Talladega County, AL? The 1846 records of the Tallasahatchie Baptist Church, Talladega County, have information on Deacon Elias MATHIS born Feb. 19, 1810 in the Edgefield District, SC. There is also a record of Elizabeth BRYANT (whose maiden name I believe to be MATHIS) transferring her membership from New Hope Baptist Church in Autauga Co., AL, and her husband William BRYANT petitioning for membership at the same time, having also been a former member of New Hope in Autauga Co. Nancy MATHIS also joined the Tallasahatchie Church in 1846, along with Frank SHERRELL and wife, Sarah, and Payton VINSANT. I don't have any relationship in my files on the latter two surnames. Records of this church also show Martha D. and Sarah MATHIS as members. Billie and Audrey have both posted a lot of info on these surnames, which I have followed closely but still unable to make a connection to our lines. Thanks! Evelyn
