Vivian, I noted the following names, Roberson/Robertson/Robinson, were in the list of folks you research from the Old Edgefield Dist area. I am looking for a Family with a daughter Harriett who died before 1850 who married a Coursey. From my research, I believe that she is the missing mother of my ggg-grandfather John Franklin Coursey b. September 26, 1838, Shaws township, Edgefield Dist, SC (Shaws was one of the counties divided between Aiken Co. and Edgefield Co. when Aiken Co. was formed in 1871. Trenton is in the area of the Shaws township - so our Robertsons could be the same folks. ) I have no info. on her or other Robertsons yet. I have made a list of Robertsons from the Probate Records index microfilm at the State archives and hope to find one that mentions her, IF her father died before she did. I am basing the fact of her marriage to Ewell Coursey on the death certificate of Mary Coursey Arthur, b. ca Abt. 1848, who died May 03, 1915, Augusta, Richmond Co. Ga. Her death certificate gives the following info: 1915 - Death Cert # 5761, Augusta, Richmond Co,GA. Mrs. Mary Jane Arthur White, Female, Widow b: not given, age given as 65 father: Earl Coursey b. SC mother: Harriet Robertson b. SC d. May 3, 1915, Augusta, Richmond Co. Ga buried: West View Cem., [Augusta, GA] info. Mr. J. Coursey UT: R. E. Elliott, 1033 Ellis St, [Augusta, GA] In her obit are listed two other children of Ewell Coursey: Obit of Mary Jane Coursey, May 3, 1915, The Augusta Chronicle, Augusta, Richmond Co., GA. DEATH OF MRS. JANE ARTHUR Mrs. Jane Arthur, aged [65] years, widow of the late M. B. Arthur, died at 11:30 O'clock last night at her home, 1920 Fenwick St. Mrs. Arthur is survived by two brothers, Mr. J. B. Coursey, of Augusta, and Mr. W. H. Coursey of Graniteville. The funeral services will be held at the Woodlawn Baptist Church at 1 o'clock this afternoon; interment will be in West View Cemetery. I also have the death certificate for W. H. Coursey who lists his father as Ewell Coursey but does not list the mother. The mother with the family in the 1850 census is too young to be the mother of the first several children, and is younger than the wife listed in the 1840 census with Ewell. So....... this missing wife is the mother of my ggg-grandfather who was the oldest brother of Mary Jane Coursey Arthur. He died in 1914, in SC, just one year too soon to have a death cert. And I have not found an obit yet. He is buried at Dry Creek Baptist, Ward, Saluda Co, SC where several of his children attended church. Don't know where Ewell or Harriett Robertson Coursey are buried. I am sure that is a lot more than you wanted to know about the family, but thought some of the names might ring a bell. Please share info. on any of the early Robertson/Roberson/Robinson families that you have proven so I can decide to pursue or eliminate them from my search. here are the ones I have in a list to look up. It will take some time, as I have to travel to the State Archives for a day long trip, and them when go thru one whole Box and Package at the time to find all the folks on that one.
