    3. HC Ouzts caught an error I made in the post of the informatin on Edwin Perry Holloway. In it I stated "it seems like he [Edwin Perry] married Martha after Perry was born . . ." Edwin Perry married 2) +Sarah JENNINGS b: 1835 SC m: Abt. 1859 d: 1912. Their first child was the Martha. Thanks HC for catching the error and letting me know. HC also states: that he believed that Perry was the first born of the second marriage to Sarah Jennings. However, this next record, copied a couple of weeks ago from the Estate records on microfilm at the SC State Archives, seems to prove that Perry is the child of his first wife: The following Probate information regarding guardianship of his children indicates to me that he was married before and wife died before 1855: Edgefield Co. Probate, Box 75, Pkg 3039 John B. Holloway & others (minors), E.P. Holloway filed Sept 14, 1855 E. P. Holloway guardian of the persons and estates of John B., James R., Susan and Perry Holloway, minors. Bond by E. R. Hollway, Lewis Henderson, & Henry Holloway. Letters of Gurdianship to Edwin P. Holloway on behalf of his infant children (named above) "State of SC, Edgefield Dist, in ordinary: The humble petitioner Edwin Holloway respectfully shewth, That by an act of assembly of the state of SC passed Dec. 1851, granting the land deeded by John Blackwell to Jane Lyan (Logan) & her children which lands became (escheated) after the death of Charles B. & John (Logan) to the children of Jane Logan, your petitioner and his infant children, John B. Holloway, James R. Holloway, Susan Holloway, & Perry Holloway (all under the age of 12) are entitled to a distributive share of said lands. That the said infants by reason of the immaturity of their understanding are incapable of property governing and directing their portion of the of said lands. That the said lands have aready been sold for distribution under an order from the Court of Equity of which the proceeds of sale are now in the hands of the commissioner of equity for this District. Where fore your Petitioner, the father of the said infants prays that he may be appointed the guardian of the said infants to take charge of their said estates." E. P. Holloway Sept 14, 1855 I have the birthdate of this Perry Holloway as January 12, 1852, and that is probably about the time the first wife died. Jane could have died in childbirth or from complications afterward. This is speculation only. [Death date for Perry - McCormick County Cemeteries, prepared by the McCormick Co. Historical Society, 1987.] Billie Jones Camden, SC [email protected]
