Sept 16, 1849, SC father: Arac Bowles [Isaac], SC mother: Emily Holloway, SC d. April 17, 1917, Greenwood, Greenwood Co, SC cause: chronic hepititis informant: Mrs. P. M. Dean, Greenwood, SC buried: Gilgal Church [Edgefield Co, SC] UT: W. V. Blyth, Greenwood, SC I have been unable to find her in the cem. records, and unable to find her in a census with a husband, so don't know who he is. the informant Mrs. P. M. Dean, is Permelia Mathis Bowles Dean, sister of Claricy Strother and wife of Augustus Bryant Dean, son of Bryan Dean and Treacy Hill (m1 Lewis 2) Dean). Clarisy is living with her sister, Permelia Dean in the 1910 SC Census, Greenwood Co., 6 ward Greenwood, Series T624, Roll 1459, Page 134. She is named as a sister of Permelia Bowles in the 1910 SC Census, Greenwood Co. SC, 6 ward Greenwood, Series T624, Roll 1459, Page 134. She is called Clarissa Strother. I cannot find her in SC in 1880 under Boles/Bowles or any other spelling, nor under Strother. I ran a find for all SC Clarissy's and none came up. it is possible she married one who was killed in the Civil War, but she should show up in 1870. No female head of HH was listed in SC in 1870 Heritage Quest index, and Heritage Quest lists only heads of HH. I tried several of the males, but no Claricy/Clarissa showed up as wife. Can anyone help? Her parents are: 1 Isaac Bowles/Boles b: Mar 11, 1809 in Edgefield Co, SC d: May 25, 1888 in Assume Edgefield co., SC Burial: Isaac Bowles Cem, across from Gilgal Baptist Church, Edgefield Co., SC .. +Emily Holloway b: Dec 19, 1806 in Edgefield Co, SC m: Bef. 1832 d: Dec 28, 1898 in assume Edgefield Co., SC Burial: Isaac Bowles Cem, across from Gilgal Baptist Church, Edgefield Co., SC Father: Jordan HOLLOWAY Mother: Mary REARDON Emily's father Jordan Holloway is the son of Reuben Holloway, Rev. war Soldier, one of my Holloway ancestors. ------------------------------------------------- 1918 - Death Cert. #25864, Edgefield Co, SC J. C. Branch buried next to them, who is probably the husband of a daughter of James George Strother and Mary Blair, as is the female buried with them. But I cannot get online tonight for some reason to check out the census records.
