The following obit was in The State Paper, Columbia, SC, Nov 20, 2006 Obit of Elzie Adams, Published in the Nov 20, 2006 edition of the State Paper, Columbia, SC WINNSBORO - Funeral services for Elzie Brooke Adams, age 85, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at First Baptist Church, conducted by the Reverend Marion Adams and Dr. John Adams. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC. Mr. Adams died Friday, November 17, 2006, in Dorn VA Hospital. Son of the late Joseph C. and Mattie Casey Adams, Mr. Adams was born July 3, 1921, in Edgefield County. He was a graduate of Clem-son University and served in the U.S. Navy during World War n. m Winns-boro he was the owner of Adams Motor Company and a member, deacon and choir member of First Baptist Church. Very active in community organizations, he was the State Commander for the S.C. Department of the American Legion, founder and Charter President of the Blythewood Lions Club and recipient of the Lion of the Year award. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Guthrie Adams of the home; and two brothers, the Reverend W. Marion Adams and his wife, Carrie, of Shelby, NC, and the Reverend Thomas Larry Adams and his wife, Elaine, of Cummings, GA. The family suggests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 1373 Newberry Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180. Frances Elizabeth wife of Joseph Adams was a Nicholson, daughter of Shemuel Wright Nicholsan and Lydia Oliphant. Shemuel Wright Nicholson and Elizabeth Nicholson, wife of Thomas Adams were brother and sister children of Wright Nicholson and his first Wife Frances. Frances is supposed to have been a DeLoach and Wright's second wife was Mary Elizabeth Douglass, Southern Genealogist, Vol 4. Frances DeLoach, daughter of William and Judith Wall DeLoach was born about 1748 in Old Craven Co, SC and died after 1774. Married Wright Nicholson of Old Edgefield Dist, SC. Children, if any, unknown. Dr. James Fudge Adams and his wife Lucy L. Glover did not have a child named Frances Elizabeth.
