I keep getting new ones, answering the ones that don't take long and saving the ones I want to work on, then new ones come in and I dont get back to the old. Have a 2 year old request by HC to share my research on the two Jordan Holloways, and just have not finished getting it all together. Bonnie, Connie sent me some info. that came from you with info. from Jones Butler III, as she knew some of these folks were mine. I have made some comments and provided support for my conclusions below. RE: the Jordan Butler line. I don't know much about his ancestors, but do have the same ones back to Daniel Butler m. Catherine Johnson. My only reference for their children is Linda Baughn, 9940 Nita Ave., Chatsworth, CA 91311 <[email protected]>, so I cannot verify them with my own research. Would love to have any documentation that you both are using to support the attachments. But I have worked a lot on the descendants of his son John Butler, as his desc. marry into the Jordan, Waits, Trotter, Burnett, May, Carter families that I research. I have developed those lines quite a bit with several wills worked on in the process that provided new data and proved some of the old data out there to be in error. I will gladly share whatever you want on these folks and will send a registry with notes and sources for you to compare and then we can discuss discrepancies. Bonnie, please share it with Jones Butler III as well, since his email address was not in the message Connie forwarded to me. Connie, One thing I CAN tell you is WRONG: Leannah Holloway Butler is NOT the daughter of Lewellyn and Sophronina Unknown Holloway. She is the daughter of Elijah Holloway and Mary Jordan, who is the sister of Nancy Jordan who married John Butler. I base that on the wills of John Jordan and Elijah Hollway which I have copied below: John Jordan's obituary was published in the Edgefield Advertiser, August 14, 1851 "Departed this life at his residence in Edgefield District, on July 21, 1851, in the 76th year of his age, John Jordan. He joined Good Hope Baptist Church in 1832 and was ordained a Deacon in 1834. He lost his wife some years before his own death, but left surviving him, children and grandchildren." [Edgefield Death Notices and Cem. Records, p. 87] Will of John Jordan [Box 61 # 250], 9 December, 1850, proved 31 July 1851 Proved on the oath of Elijah Towles one of the subscribing witnesses this 31 July 1851. Qualified James Adams Executor this 4th day of August 1851. Recorded in Book D. p. 425 State of South Carolina, Edgefield District} In the name of God Amen. I John Jordan of the District and State aforesaid being weak and infirm in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain the following as my last will and testament. First. It is my will and desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate by my executor herafter named as soon as the money be collected from the sale of my estate after my death. Second. I will and direct that my Executor herafter named make sale on a credit of twelve months of all my estate both real and personal and the monies arising from said sale after the payment of debts be divided in manner following - Third. I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Martha Jordan our feather bed, bed stead and furniture. Fourth I give and bequesth the remainder of my estate to the following named eprsons to wit - One seventh part to the deceased daughter Mary Holloway [*wife of Elijah Holloway] One seventh part to the children of my deceased son John Jordan. One seventh part to my daughter Nancy Butler One seventh part to to my daughter Rachael Adams [married one of the many James Adams men] One seventh part to my daughter Anny Sanders One seventh part to my daughter Dizy Morse [I think she married Whitfield Morse/Moss ??] One seventh part to to my son Levi Jordan. Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my son-in-law James Adams executor to this my last will and testament revoking all other wills by me heretofore made. In witness wherof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9th day of December, 1850. John (his mark) Jordan In Presence of Oliver Towles Wiley Holloway Eliza Towles Appraisers of the estate were: William Adams, A. King, David Butler, R. Scurry. Interest paid out as well as the principle of $110] Ends here - never see a final accounting and note that James Adams son-i-law and Executor does not show he was paid in full for he and his wife's share. ------------------------------------- The heirs who receive $110 are all the children of Elijah Hollway by his first wife Mary Jordan, who I discovered only a few years ago. Elijah's will always sounded strange to me with the wording, and it makes lots more sense when you understand that Sophia Rowe, his wife in the will, is the 2nd wife and the mother of only the last 3 children: Elijah and Mary Jordan are my 4th great-grandparents thru their daughter Emily Holloway who married Thomas Jefferson Burnett. Elijah wrote his will in 1862, and it was filed in 1869. A full transcription of the probate record on microfilm at the SC State archives follows: Estate of Elijah Holloway deceased [Box 96, Pkg 3892] In apc. with William Haltiwanger, Executor, Nov 1, 1862. Then I leave the land Whereon I now live being 178 acres for Mary my youngest daughter and my son Seth and their Mother, (Sophia 2nd wife) to be a home for them so long as Mary remains Single provided Seth wishes to live on the land and take care of his Mother and Sister. But provided Seth does not outlive me and Mary wishes not to live on the place I leave the land to be sold when the other property is sold but if Seth wishes to live on the land and take care of his Mother and Sister he shall have the priviledge to clear land or make any improvements on the place which he may think necessary provided Mary marries before or after my decease. It took me several years and lots of research, working with about 8 Holloway researchers to get the two Jordan lines set right in my mind. I had the two combined as one for a long time, but am very comfortable with the research based on wills, census records, deeds, etc. The Lewellyn Holloway line is a different Holloway line, desc. of the Reuben line, which we have been unable thus far to attach to his parent with any authority.
