Look in the Upper Three Runs area of what was originally Barnwell District/County, South Carolina, for Widners. There will probably a variety of spellings. Barnwell was created from Winton c. 1800 and before Winton it was Orangeburg. Barnwell has a full set of records. No fires that I recall hearing about. This part of the county was taken over by the Atomoic Energy Commission in the 1950's. I have a double Toole line from that area. The Tooles and Widners were neighbors. So far as I know, I do not have a direct Widner line. Though there was a lot of intermarrying among these people who stayed for many generations. My double 2-great grandfather, Manning (Richard I. Manning) Toole b. 1826 bought land from one of the Widners. This deed "threw" me for years until I resigned myself to the fact that he was only about 12-13 years old when the deed was made. These people also witnessed deeds, etc. when they were about 14 years old. So keep that fact in mind when researching in that area and trying to make eeucated guesses on time periords for further research when the dates at first do not seem to match. Mary D. Green who married Manning Toole in late 1850 or early 1851 was born 1828. She and an Albert Green, whom I presume for research purposes, was her brother witnessed another deed in Barnwell District c. 1838 when their step-father, Jordon Madison Cumbaa (various spelling)sold some land that he had inherited. Cumbaa was a school teacher and postmaster and census taker and magistrate in Barnwell District. He was about 10 years younger than the widow, Sarah _?_Green. Still looking for her maiden name and the given name and location of Mr. Green b. c. 1800 d.c. 1832-37 (educated guess on the dates). This Green-Cumbaa family lived in Montmorenci area in 1850 and 1860. Cumbaas were in the Dean's Swamp Bridge and Church area. Jordan Madison Cumbaa and Sarah _?_ Green Cumbaa are buried in the Magnolia Cemetery inAugusta, Georgia. Hope this information helps some else. I have been stuck on this Green/e line for 37 years. I thought at one time that the A.M. Green and P. C. Green on the 1860 census of Edgefield District, South Carolina, might have been her brothers, but now I am not so sure. Some of their families seem to have migrated to Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.
