    3. Audrey, I think I can tie the Sugar Jones Mathews line into my Carter line. See below your post on Sugar Jones info. I have then added my information below that. I have seen no documentation, thus no PROOF that names Willa Mathews Carter as the daughter of Sugar, but your info. infers a connection which might be this one. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Audrey Pool" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, September 20, 2004 8:05 PM Subject: Re: Sugar Jones MATTHEWS estate rec. > MATHEWS, Sugar I. Ed Gross, a direct desc. of Willa and John Benjamin Carter, gave me her full name as Willa Anna Gellico Mathews. This is possibley Willa Ann Mathews Carter: CENSUS: 1860 Coweta Co. Carter 13 F GA Note the naming of a daughter Lydia. Willa's husband, John Benjamin Carter's mother was named Lydia. And we know that at least 4 of Charles Carters children, per my memory, maybe 5, left Edgefield for Coweta Co, GA. One question that comes to mind that might be a negative is that the husband of Willa Mathew's Carter is NOT a Junior, as his father was Charles Carter, unless he was named Jr. to distinguish him from an older John Carter of the area. I have found that done in church records, even with women. Again, we find attachments of groups of folks from Southside VA to Edgefield and on to other areas.
