    3. When people made an initial land petition on the same day, and requested adjoining properties, they were sometimes members of inter-connected families from the same location. That does not apply to this group, because there were earlier petitions and grants for the individuals and their families, and they did not live near one another. The majority of the Moseleys in Edgefield in the 1770's were VA-born, but some had apparently lived in NC in the 1760's. The Glover family of MA began acquiring substantial properties in the SC Low Country (St. Bartholomew's Parish) by the 1720's. I don't know if they were related to the Glovers who lived in the Disputed Territories on the NC/SC border (the group connected to the Edgefield Glovers). Moses Yarborough owned land in various locations in SC--the Berkley County property was on the Little River in Newberry/Laurens. His 1772 will said that he was "late of St. Mark's Parish, Craven County" (Sumter Co SC). His second wife was VA-born. One can find Yarboroughs and Harlens in NC in the 1750's-60's, and in Union Co SC in the 1780's-90's, also some Harlens in VA in the 1760's and some who arrived in SC from Germany in 1752. The Edgefield region was so sparsely-populated from 1760-76 that probably everybody knew--or knew of--everybody else, especially from common militia service. While this group of Edgefield men "could" have known one another from a previous neighborhood, their submitting additional land petitions during a single Council session does not imply that their families were connected. They did not settle near one another, and do not appear to have signed legal documents in common. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Drew Welch" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 12, 2004 2:07 PM Subject: Samuel Glover, Ezekial Harling, Rbt.
