The person you refer to in your lineage as Sampson Butler is indeed the grandson John that I referred to as my gggrandfather. He was John Sampson Butler. He married Epsey Golden in Perry County, AL 3 Jan 1832. John and Epsey had 16 children (14 documented). Their son David S Butler is my ggrandfather. He married Elizabeth Jane Owens 21 July 1877. As you can see I still have a lot of work to do matching some of these with spouses. FYI: Three Butler siblings married Owens siblings.
