    1. [SCEDGEFI] Militia of Capt. Sterling Turner in 1781
    2. Harriet Imrey
    3. Capt. Sterling Turner's Company of Volunteers on Horseback was recruited from among his neighbors in the Cloud's Creek and Mine Creek region of northern Edgefield (currently Saluda Co SC). While returning from a raid in Saxegotha/Lexington, he and around 30 members of his company camped near a partially completed log cabin (called "Carter's House") on a tributary of Cloud's Creek. On 7 Nov 1781, they were surrounded and outnumbered by Loyalist militia forces under the command of Col. William ("Bloody Bill") Cunningham, who demanded unconditional surrender. Some members of Turner's company attempted to return fire. With only two exceptions, all were either killed in battle or executed after surrendering. An incomplete muster roll for this company can be reconstructed from extant service records and pension applications. Men present at the Cloud's Creek massacre: Capt.
