    3. I think there is something wrong in the linage of Doris Mayson Perry. HC has her grandfather as William Wallace Mayson, Sr. son of George Conway Mason. That chile died in 1856 so therefore could not have married a girl born in 1860. Obit from Edgefield Advertiser: Departed this life, on June 24, 1856, at his father's residence, in Edgefield District, of Typhoid Fever, William W Mayson, son of George C Mayson, in the 19th year of his age. He was a student of the Due West Academy in Abbeville District. He has left his parents, several brothers and one sister. The Edgefield Advertiser. July 16, 1856 I think the William Wallace Mayson, Sr who is the grandfather of Doris may be a son of Robert Conway Mayson. There is a son William listed with this family. but census records list him as the same age as his brother George. Or could be a grandson of one of the children from Col Mayson's third marriage to Henrietta Hart.. 3. Connie, I just caught that too, and am planning to check the death certificate of a later William Wallace Mayson Jr. who died in 1947. In the census records for George Conway Mayson, he named two sons William W. Mayson. CENSUS: 1850 Edgefield Dist, SC, Edgefield Division, 65B, hh# 1002 Mayson G. C. 46 M Farmer 6,000 SC Mayson Susan E. 38 F SC Mayson James H. 18 M Farmer SC Mayson Robt. C. 17 M Farmer SC Mayson Mary E. 15 F SC **Mayson William W. 12 M SC [died in 1856] Mayson Sarah A. 10 F SC Mayson Andrew P. 6 M SC Mayson John C. C. 3 M SC Mayson Charles O. 1 M SC In 1860, They are living only 3 doors down from Mrs. M. Harrison, widow of James Harrison, and mother to a Susan E. Harrison: CENSUS: 1860 Edgefield Co, SC, Shatterfield PO, 9 August 1860, hh# 960/946 (pg. 126) G. C. Mayson 56 M Farmer SC Susan E. Mayson 46 F SC Jas H. Mayson 27 M Farming SC Andrew P. Mayson 15 M SC Jno C. Mayson 13 M SC Chas. O. Mayson 9 M SC Henry B. Mayson 7 M SC Wm. W. Mayson 1 M SC Note that there are two William W., one in 1850 one in 1860. Did 1st one die and other named for him? [Edgefield Death Notices and Cem. records records the death of the oldest Wim. W. Mayson on Jun 24, 1856. George C. Mayson is named as the father of Mary E. Mayson in her 1853 obit published in the Edgefield Advertiser, Oct 5, 1853. He is also named as the father Of William W. Mayson who died June 24, 1856. I think that it is probable that the William W. Mayson b. 1890 is the son of either the later born Wm. W. Mayson b. 1859 or he is a son of one of the brothers. Maybe the DC will help us out.
