    3. So many List members have ancestors and collaterals among the men killed at Cloud's Creek on 17 (not 7) Nov 1781 that I thought you'd be interested in the names of members of the Loyalist Corps who killed them. The British kept meticulous records for payroll purposes, so the membership of the four companies who made the attack at Cloud's Creek, then the assault at Hayes Station in Laurens Co on 19 Nov 1781, is all written down in one place. The backcountry raid of Nov-Dec 1781 resulted in ~50 Whig deaths: 23 at Cloud's Creek, 19 at Hayes Station, and a few opportunistic raids on households of personal enemies while en route. Maj. Cunningham lost only one man, David Long. His quarterly paylists through the end of 1782 show no additional casualties. Cunningham took asylum in East Florida after the British evacuated Charleston in Dec 1782. When FL was ceded to Spain in 1783, the newly-appointed Gov. de Zespedes wrote that he didn't want that man in his territory, had him arrested and deported. He snuck back into FL, was arrested and deported again. He retired to the West Indies, where he was assured a comfortable living because of his services to the Crown.
