This is from the SC Highway Memorial Site I notice that there was a memorial service for her. That usually means a cremation. with no burial. However, you will see the telephone number for Ramey Funeral Home so they should be able to tell you if the ashes were interred or what or where they were taken. The kindness she showed to others and her beautiful smile will be greatly missed. Our lives will never be the same ever again because she won't be here. I will always remember the first time I held her in my arms at the hospital when she was born and the last time I held her at the funeral home after her death. The 34 year old woman was identified as Jessica Mae Arnette. She was a clerk at Dodges Store on Augusta Road. She leaves behind two small children, a son in the forth grade and a two year old daughter. Ms. Arnette was said to be living with the father of the two year old, the driver of the car Saluda County Deputies say refused to stop for them. Artis J. Hardaman, 45, was driving the car that contained the mother of his child while he led deputies on a high speed pursuit. According to reports from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Mr. Hardaman was heading south on Rock Creek Church Road when he lost control of the 1994 Ford four door and slammed into a tree. Ms. Arnette was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnston and Saluda Firemen and EMS workers were needed to extract the two from the wreckage. Mr. Hardaman was air-lifted to Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia where his last reported condition was critical. Some sources stated he will be facing numerous charges including vehicular homicide. The results of alcohol tests are pending and all charges are also currently pending. We have not been able to reach family members over the weekend for an update on his condition. >Message: 2 >Date: Wed, 27 Sep 2006 19:22:03 EDT >From: Cratus13@aol.com >Subject: [SCEDGEFI] Jessica Mae Arnette >To: SCEDGEFI@rootsweb.com >Cc: SCSALUDA@rootsweb.com >Message-ID: <35f.cc8085c.324c619b@aol.com> >Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" > >I am trying to find out where Jessica Mae Arnette was buried. I am trying to find out where Jessica Mae Arnette was buried. She was born July 9, 1971, and died Sept. 7, 2005 in a car crash in Saluda. She was a daughter of Lloyd Arnette. Thanks, Christie
I work on the Rauton family line of Old Edgefield dist, SC [desc. of John ROTTON, Sr. b: Abt. 1770 in SC d: Jan 29, 1852 in Edgefield Co., SC Burial: Possibly unmarked graves at Rocky Creek Bapt. Church, Edgefield Co, SC .. +Mary UNKNOWN b: Abt. 1776 in SC d: Jul 11, 1855 in Edgefield Co., SC Burial: Possibly unmarked graves at Rocky Creek Bapt. Church, Edgefield Co, SC. I have proven one Rhoden line to connect back to the original Rotton lines, and so I have sorta been looking out for others. The following obit was sent to me. I am interested since the Yonce and Corley names mentioned as mother and wife are Old Edgefield names as well. Several Yonces of the Johnston area married Rautons, the spelling used by my line of Rotton/Roton/Rotten/Rhoden/etc. Can anyone provide information back from the father Heywood Rhoden and mother Hallie Yonce to help me make connections to some of the folks in my research. I have not started looking up census records, etc to see if I find them. Would appreciate help to get started. Also, to which Corley family does his wife Kay Corley belong? Here is the obit published in the Augusta Chronicle, July 19, 2006 Rhoden, James Cornell Kennametal Industrial Employee BURNETTOWN, S.C. - Entered into rest on Monday, July 17, 2006, Mr. James Cornell Rhoden, 68, husband of Mrs. Kay Corley Rhoden, of 44 Royal Street, Burnettown, SC. He was a former supervisor for Graniteville Company with twenty-five years of service and worked for Kennametal as a machinist with nineteen years of service. He proudly served in the U. S. I found the cem. record for husband Eugene Edgar Adams in the William Garrett (Billy) Matthews Family Cem., Saluda Co., SC. At the time of the survey, Emma Lessie Matthews Adams was still living. Per her obit above, she died Sept 25, 2006, Batesburg, SC. I added that date to her cem. record, which gave her birth date: Adams, E. Lessie Sep 2 1914 - Sept 25, 2006 Adams, Eugene E. May 6 1909 - Sep 11 1977 I checked out some census records, and found Pierce Matthews and Corrie in two census records that gave me a list of 10 children. According to the 1870 census which I have not yet transcribed, Cleve and Matilda have a son John age 15 so born in 1855. Taken from The Greenwood Journal 16 Apr 1896 (I don't have a page number) On Sunday, April 5th, Robert Cheatham died from the effects of a stroke of paralysis at his home near Longmires, in Edgefield County. The deceased was the father of R. G. Cheatham, who was at one time a citizen and business man in this city. He had been in bad health for the past two years, and on Friday previous to his death was prostrated with a stroke of paralysis. He was buried in the Zeigler burying ground at Liberty Hill, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. G. W. Bussey. Mr. Cheatham was in his 64th year, and for the greater part of his life he was one of the leading members of Gilgal Baptist Church. It appears that there is a one year discrepancy in the date of death. Thank you for the locations and the cemetery listing. I know where Bethany Baptist Church is since my uncle J. P. Gable is buried there. But..... not proof, but this is what i have on Robert Christie, and note in a deed to Lewis matthews the witness is one MARY CHRISTIE! He married (2) SUSANNAH GORMAN2,3,4 Aft. 18025, daughter of JOHN GORMAN and HANNAH SPRAGGINS. She was born Bet. 1760 - 17805. Notes for ROBERT CHRISTIE: >From Pat <WattsinKilgore@aol.com> [Jan 22, 2003] Robert Christie was around the Allen family. He signed Josiah Allen's will as a witness. Elizabeth DeLoach was the first wife of Josiah Allen. After Josiah Allen died, she had other marriages. Your Rev. Thomas DeLoach and Elizabeth DeLoach were brother and sister, if I remember correctly. Some of the Christie researchers think that possibly Robert Christie married one of the Allen girls, but we haven't been able to find her. The Elizabeth DeLoach who married Josiah Allen later married an Etheridge. We think that Robert Christie may have been the son of a William Christie. William Christie was born in Virginia and lived in Brunswick County, Virginia. His father was another Robert Christie, and his mother was Elizabeth Lamberth or Lambert. We just haven´t found the proof. Maybe one day we will know more. Robert Christie is found as a witness to the will of Josiah Allen, 1796. "JOSIAH ALLEN, "Colington County" (Colleton County).
