    3. Melissa, Don't know for sure yet. But I think he might have been, since I first was sent information about him with another wife. Yep, here is where the assumption of another wife came from. He is buried together with the following in the Graniteville Cem, Graniteville, Aiken Co, SC Turner, W. Roy Jan 27 1914 - ------------- Turner, Estelle M. Jun 30 1909 - --------- Mayson, Robert O. 3. The McClendon families of Edgefield (and elsewhere in SC) got spelled in many creative ways, as did the McClelland families of Abbeville (and elsewhere). I've never seen an example of one getting converted into the other, although I suppose that could have occurred--practically everything else did. It's still unlikely, and I'd be reluctant to believe that a McClendon could become a McClelland in the next generation unless there were some sort of documentation to show that this had happened at least once in ~1750-1850. Those are Highlander surnames, and clan families were pretty picky about which one they were. The MacLennons were a (small) independent clan from Kintail in the 13th century (first spelled Mac Gill'innan). The MacClellans were a sept of the larger MacNab clan of (perhaps) 9th-century origin. They were not related to MacLennons, and not necessarily on good terms with families of that name even as late as the 18th century. A spelling-change from one to the other would be extremely unusual. So unusual that you'd really need to locate-and-document "one case" in which it happened. I don't know of one, but am not familiar with Edgefield records after ~1820, or Abbeville records after ~1790. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donnelly" <donnelly@one.net> To: <SCEDGEFI-L@rootsweb.com>; <GABULLOC-L@rootsweb.com> Cc: <CONE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 18, 2006 2:29 PM Subject: [SCEDGEFI] William Henry McClelland (McLenon, McLindon, etc.) of Edgefield Co., SC Hi, Can anyone confirm that my great-great-grandfather William Henry McClelland (McLenon, McLindon, etc.) (born about 1835 in Edgefield County, SC) was the son of Taltern and Avery McLindon of Edgefield County? 1. Re: [SCEDGEFI] Bobo Family as well as HUTSON/HUDSONs
    2. Debra, In regard to your earlier post regarding the Bobo family, I do not have a will for Spencer BOBO and I do not know if one exists. I am not a Bobo researcher but I do have a few collected pieces of data regarding Spencer BOBO as relates to other families that I am researching and more specifically to Tillman BOBO. Should that be of interest to you, feel free to email me and I will share these with you. Families in which I have interest who seem to be dealing with or related to the Bobo family are: McGuire, Hudson/Hutson, Tillman Bobo, Waters, Rainwater. Susannah Bobo married John Rainwater Thomas Mahlon Bobo married Louisa Hudson Crump (Does anyone know where the Hudson portion of this name came from?) Sidenote: if there is anyone on the list working on the Hudson/Hutson line of Union/Edgefield SC area, I would love to hear from them. Mary Hutson/Hudson (b. abt 1788 SC) is somewhat of a brick wall for me. I believe she was a daughter of David HUTSON/HUDSON but need some proof. ANYTHING on these Hudson/Hutsons would be gratefully received. Vivian Eakes Hull Hermitage, TN _vhull@aol.com_ (mailto:vhull@aol.com)

On page 11 the following information is cited about an Ansel Sawyer. "Ansel Sawyer, an immigrant from Charleston District, SC was a prominent pioneer citizen and the first person to be buried at Walnut Creek Cemetery, a very old community of the county. He was born in Edgefield, SC., 20 Aug 1789, died 1 Jun 1855. He came to Chilton Co., about 1820. Burt Sawyer, a brother, entered land in what is now Friendship Community near Clanton; he later moved to Shelby County." Can some one please tell me about this Sawyer family? Is this the same Ansel Sawyer who married Sarah Norris, or is this a different person? I am not a member of the Sawyer mailing list, so please reply direct to me: NKCorum@aol.com Thanks Ann Corum
