I have been told that she may have married 2nd, John Randall. Did they marry or not. The Oct 19, 1919 Confederate Pension Application #3597, Mrs. Annie Randall, widow of Seaborn Randall states that he enlisted in Co. A., 19th Regiment of SCV under Capt. Elijah Horn on the 27th of Nov, 1861 and served until he was killed on Sept 20, 1863. They married in 1859. She had been on the Class 5-3 pension roll. Annie Randall states that she has no property or income and is 80 years old, residing near Johnston, Edgefield Co, SC where she has lived all her life. Maybe she did like folks today with SS. Don't marry so you don't lose benefits. Not trying to insult desc., I just cannot find any record of a 2nd marriage. Would appreciate knowing the father of the children born after 1862. As far as I can tell, Lawrence Randall is the only child of Seaborn. ---------------------------------------------------------------- 1927 - Death Cert. #20475, Greenwood Co, SC J. P. My ancestor Alexander Oden live in Edgefield, South Carolina from about 1770 to just before 1820. He is mentioned in the book, South Carolina Roster on page 738, and in another book of Revolutionary War Patriots from South Carolina. Roster says, "He served in the militia before and after the fall of Charleston. A.A.5602; T593." A previous researcher supposedly found a pension application written by his widow that stated he was born in Frederick, Maryland in 1752. Another researcher recently looked for this application among the pension records in the National Archives and found nothing. In the 1830's when this application was supposedly made the Odens lived in Autauga County, Alabama. Would this mythical pension application have been made to South Carolina, or to Alabama? If it was made to South Carolina, can someone please tell me if those records can be accessed on-line. Thanks, Marleen Van Horne

Since she is buried with Ephriam Leopard in the West End Cem., Newberry Co, SC, I am presuming that she is Rodianna Leopard of the 1900 census wife of Ephraim Leopard, who is probably the informant on her death cert. No mention of the middle name Elizabeth, which is on her tombstone but not in the obit. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can someone tell me how to get a copy of the cemetery book that contains transcriptions for Good Hope Baptist Cemetery? Thanks so much, Nancy Stewart nancytex@wt.net
Billie, The Catherine mentioned in the 1880 census for Washinton Butler is actually Nancy Jane McClung's mother, born 7-7-1832 died 5-12-1888. The census for the age is close and I believe this to be who the census in refering to. I looked at this census in 1880 and it is hard to read, but I can make see that Washington is listed there as Wash Butler married to Jane. My father, Horace Reed Butler who is the grandson of Washington Butler always refered to him as Wash Butler. Also, I noticed that Mire J. Butler is living next door to Wash Butler in 1880. Rushton. This message came back permanent delivery failure. I am trying again: I have previously posted the following death certificate. In working with the will of Mire J. Butler, posted by Randy Butler, It proves that the death cert. contains an error in his mother's name. The death cert. says: 1928 - Death Cert. #12967, McCormick Co, SC Tillman R. Rushton Male, White, Married, Farmer b. May 1, ____, age 48, SC father: John Rushton, SC mother: Nancy Leopard * d. Cem. Record gives his date of birth as May 1, 1880 ------------------------------------------------------- *From the will of his grandfather, it is known that his mother was Nancy BUTLER, not Nancy Leopard. She predeceased her father and the children are heirs, listed in Mire Butler's will [Will of Mire J. Butler, July 19, 1886, Box 116 Pkg 4747, Proven January 29, 1888, Edgefield Co, SC] The will states: ...." to my Grand Children, the Heirs of my daughter Nancy L. Rushton Deceased, in money Ten Dollars to be equally divided amongst the said grand children...." The distribution shows the following payments: Pd. H. P. Rushton his distributive share in the above estate - $2.00 By amt paid Lucinda Cockrell, Larkin Rushton, Willie M. Rushton Tillman Rushton and J. D. Rushton their distributive share in full of said estate $8.00 I have her as Nancy C. Butler from census records. The transcriber of the will has Nancy L. Possibly her middle name was Leopard, or Lucinda, which was her mother's name. Maybe her mother was a Leopard, as I do not have a maiden name for Lucinda. **Does anyone know Lucinda's name, wife of Mire Butler b. ca 1815 who died Jan 23, 1888. From Census records Lucinda Unknown Butler was born in 1810. I have seen a 2nd wife mentioned, 2. Catherine (b. 1816 SC) L/w [Washington] Butler, identified as Mother in the 1880 census, but ages don't compute! She cannot be Washington's mother, but could be a mother-in-law, except I have Washington's wife as a McClung [Nancy Jane 'Nannie' McClung] My LDS CDs don't have a Washington Butler, but it may be this one md. to a Jane... Obituary of Winnie Bledsoe Adams, published Jan 22, 2007, The State, Columbia, SC SALUDA - Winnie Bledsoe Adams, 93, widow of Earl W. Adams, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, January 20th, in Saluda Nursing Center. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James Virgil and Joyce Adams of Chapin, Wyman and Edna Adams of Saluda, Brooks and Ginger Adams of West Columbia; and six daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Bob Ausnehmer of Aiken, Joyce and Dewey Brown, Judy and Marion Frye, all of Leesville, Shelby Jean Grice of West Columbia, Margaret and Bill Williams of Chapin and Rita Malyerck of Ballentine. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, and one brother and sister-in-law, Perry and Mae Bledsoe of Saluda. She was predeceased by four sisters, four brothers and one great-grandchild, Noah Baghdady. A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon, January 23rd, at 4 p.m. at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Tina Thomas and Rev. Wayne Smith with visitation after the service until 7:00 p.m. Interment will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Mayson Cemetery across from Good Hope Baptist Church of Saluda conducted by her grandson, Matt Kimak. Mrs. Adams was born in Saluda, daughter of the late Berryman and Cora Elizabeth Bledsoe. She was a member of Gassaway United Methodist Church and she was very faithful to her church, serving in various roles, and singing in the choir until her hospitalization a year ago. She was a blessing to many and was blessed by many. The family appreciates the kind, loving care extended to her by her "favorite doctor," Dr. Ralph Riley, and his staff and the staff of Saluda Nursing Center. We are thankful for everyone who shared time and love with Mama, especially Laurie Ann Vaughn, her niece and her fishing buddy. And to Eland and Jan Chapman, Melvin, Colleen, George and Kathy Deloache, and Rev. Tina Thomas, who brightened her days with their visits, and Mama's grandson, Brock Adams, who devoted so much of his time and attention before and during her nursing home stay. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gassaway United Methodist Church c/o Melvin Deloache, 140 Simmons Road, Saluda, SC 29138. Milton Shealy Funeral Home of Batesburg-Leesville is assisting the family with arrangements. In looking at my files, I have her as the daughter of 1 John B. Now I know the mother and you can add her desc. to your excel file. Billie
