    3. Drew, I don't know anything about the Faulkner family you are asking about but there is some connection between the Faulkner's and the Horne family I believe. Irola, a cousin on the Whittle side, was a Horne and I have been trying to help her find information on the Hornes. She is supposed to be named after Irola Faulkner that is buried at McKendrick or McKesrick (forget the exact name now). If you or anyone on the list knows anything about her family I would very much appreciate the information. Drew, are you related to any Welch's in Richland County, SC? My aunt was a Welch. Her name was Annie Ruth Welch. I knew some of her family too as they lived on the street behind my grandparents. This was in the 40s and 50s. Modine Welch (Derrick) was my mother's best friend from high school on. If anyone is interested in this family I may be able to help some. Brenda

Capt. Peter H. Bozeman, 1817-1867. Lived and died in Lauderdale county, Miss. near Toomsuba, came to that place in 1839, where he married Miss Charlotte C. Everett the same year, and resided till his death in 1867; when a youth, he lived in Clarke county, Ala, was born in South Carolina, Sept. 1817. He was a farmer and merchant, a magistrate eight years, a Democrat, a Baptist, in sentiment, though not a member of any church, was Captain of the Alinteha Guards. 13th Mississippi regiment C.S.A. and was very popular with his soldiers and fellow officers. Three of their children reached adult age. 1. Peter Edwin Bozeman who married Miss Mattie Kelly, Jan 9, 1875, has four children, Jessie Gertrude born 1876, Virgie Iola 1878; Effie Clifton 1880; Almeady Everett 1881. He lives now 1885 at Akron Ala. 2. Jesse James Bozeman, who married Miss Lois Calhoun, at Toomsuba, Miss., Oct 20, 1878, has one child, Everett Annie, born 1879. 3. Mary Almeady Bozeman, a bright beautiful young lady, who married George Lafayette Blanks, at Toomsuba, Jan. 4, 1885, a brother of Dr.. J. H. Blanks, of Meridian, Miss. Capt. Peter Bozeman's father was Meady Gee Bozeman, of Cheraws, S. C. near the great Pedee River. Here we have the name Meady again. We find it in various branches of the Bozeman family. It tells the relationship. "Meady" Where did this name come from? It is a thread by which we may yet be led farther into the past of our history. I hope the name will be retained in the family in all the coming generations. The distinguishing names of the Bozemans are: Meady, Etheldred, Luke, Nathan, James, Joseph, Winnie from Winnifred, Celia and Dicy. Capt. Peter Bozeman had brothers in Montgomery county, Ala. His uncles were named Peter, Henry and Jesse, his father, Meady Gee; his grandfather, Peter Bozeman. They lived near the northern border of South Carolina, not far from the home of my ancestors, in the southern part of North Carolina. The correct spelling of all the Meady Bozemans is with an "e," thus, Boze-man. Mordicai Bozeman - 1735- Darlington Co., South Carolina A native of North Carolina, born about 1735. His sons were: 1. Peter Bozeman, born about 1758; a soldier in the Revolution on the side of American Independence. Moved to Alabama. 2. John Bozeman, born about 1760; soldier in the Revolution with his brother. 3. Jame Bozeman, born about 1766, lived in Darlington county South Carolina, married Elizabeth Flowers. Children of James and Elizabeth Flowers Bozeman, a. Henry Bozeman, born about 1800, married Elizabeth Norwood; lived in Darlington district, SC; died in 1874. Children of Henry and Elizabeth Norwood Bozeman are: Henry Boseman, Jr. born in 1833, married Martha Flowers in 1852, lived in Darlington county, S.C. died in 1866; a carpenter by trade, had five cildren: Edwin Bozeman, born 1856, a farmer. Zach. Norwood Bozeman, born 1858, a farmer. Rowena Bozeman, born 1860; John Henry Bozeman, born 1862, farmer; James Brunson Bozeman, born 1864, student for the Baptist ministry in Furman University, S.C. in 1883, one of my correspondents. b. Jesse Bozeman, son of James and Elizabeth Flowers Bozeman, and grandson of Mordicai Bozeman, born in 1802, married a miss Beck, and lives at this date, 1884, in Darlington, S.C. The three children of Jesse Bozeman were: William Bozeman, born about 1825, killed in the Confederate War; Peter Bozeman, born about 1827, killed in the Confederate war; George Washington Bozeman, born about 1830, lives in South Carolina. The above is all I have learned about the Mordicai Bozemans of Darlington South Carolina. I should think from the names Peter and Jesse, that they are the same branch as Capt. Peter H. Bozeman of Lauderdale county, Miss., whose ancestors lived about Cheraws, S. C. whose grandfather was named Peter Bozeman and brother named Jesse Bozeman, and sons named Peter Edwin and Jesse James Bozeman. It used the address dt1533@comcast.net , but came back as undeliverable. ------------------------------------------- Dot, thank you for the information on the desc. of Tillman Pierce Matthews. Do I have your permission to share it with a couple of other Matthews researchers. And give them your address. I haven't had time to work on it yet, but am sure I will have questions when i do. I would be most interested in a file such as this on the earliest Matthews in that line down to Tillman Pierce, as those are the ones that I have in my files. I would be glad to exchange the data, with notes and sources upon request. Thanks again, for sharing. Can you send me your postal address to add to my source citation for information I pull from the outline. 1. [SCEDGEFI] Obit of Avery 'A.B.' Bland Wilkinson The State, April 17, 2007 and Bland family connections
    2. Lee and Billie Jones
    3. Another obit that just has to connect back to Old Edgefield Dist. I have 5 Avery/Avory Blands in my files, but earlier than this. And my g-grandmother, Hulda Rauton Coursey, remarried to a John L. Wilkinson sometime after the death of my G-grandfather, Charles Franklin Coursey in 1932 and her death in 1848. [The spelling is different, but that happens a lot. Thought they might be connected, somehow] So I'm curious. Figure somewhere a Bland daughter md. a Wilkerson son and carried the Avery Bland down thru that family as well, but I have never worked the Wilkerson line. Does anyone know if the A. B. Wilkerson of the obit connects back to the Edgefield Bland family. [Which connects to one of my daughter in laws families somehow... I didn't try to look that all up tonight. 3. Found this in some newspapers stacked on my desk. I never posted it and have a question listed at the end of the scanned obit. Obituary of Dathene Rushton. "The State", April 30, 2007 JOHNSTON - Mrs. Dathene Forrest Rushton, 82, of Johnston, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, in Aiken Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mt. Olives Cemetery in Johnston. Mrs. Rushton was a native of Johnston, and was the wife of the late William H. Forrest. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jamie "Stump" Webster. The family is at the home on Hwy. 121 in Johnston and will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Edgefield-Mercantile Funeral Home. ---------------------- I have a William Huggins Forrest b. Feb 10, 1922 as a son of Charles May Forrest (1897 - 1976) and Permelia Hudgens Forrest (1900 - 1985). The ca birthdate based on the age at death of the above Dathene Forrest Rushton is 1925, which could work for her to be the wife of William Huggins Forrest. Does anyone have any proof or disproof of a connection between these two individuals - William Huggins Forrest and Dathene Forrest Rushton. I think I just found info. that come close to proof from the Mt. of Olives Cem. Records: Forrest, William Hudgens Feb 10 1922 - Nov 16 1970 Wood, Doris Dothene G. Forrest Feb 14 1925 - ------- But the tombstone has WOOD, the obit has Rushton as he name, altho it names no other husband then William H. Forrest???? Strange! The cem. records I have with comments typed in gives the name [GROWDEN] for the G. Is that her maiden name?? This is a strange one and now has my curiosity up. Comments?
