    3. I have further information on a Walker Family in Edgefield District, South Carolina, that connects to my Whitlock Family in the same area. I have not been able to match up any of the 1860 Walker Census information to this family. Any ideas anyone. Information is from the estate record of her mother who died July 1860 Edgefield District, South Carolina. The Whitlocks lived just south of the Pine Log House/Trenton. She is the 7th child on the list of heris of Winfrey Whitlock, Sr. and Elizabeth Booth Sarah Whitlock b. c. 1815 d. before 1860 m. William Walker Seven children: George Walker Dan'l Walker William Walker James Walker Mariah m Wane Leopard Elizabeth m. Wm E. Fowler John Walker m. ? Angella Walker William Walker, Jr. Alvenah Walker & Supposed to have a child by his last wife. List of Heirs in Estate is not clear whether these last three were John children or his siberlings. Have not been able to match these up with the 1860 census of Edgefield. Any ideas anyone. I first researched this family over 30 years aago. One of my great grandmothers was a Whitlock from Trenton m. a Carpenter. 3. Just curious . . . do you know where the Pickens middle name came from . .. I have another John JONES (md. Margaret BENSON in Pennsylvania in 1771), died in Edgefield in 1796. His grandson was named Baylor Pickens JONES (son of Jonathon Shelby JONES and Epsa Dilla JONES) . . . always thought the Pickens middle name might be significant. 1. WALKER BIBLE/WHITLOCK CONECTION????
    2. Vivian Toole
    3. In regards to the Walker Bible Family Data published in the current issue of the Quill, can anyone place a William Walker who married a Sarah Whitlock probably in Edgefield District, South Carolina, into the Walker Family of the Bible Record. She was born ABOUT 1813 or earlier in Edgefield District, South Carolina, had married William Walker by c. December, 1828, and died before July 1860. William Walker was probably about her same age althought I seem to be finding more women back then marrying younger men that I previously thought. My notes tell me they had seven children though I don't have them listed in these notes I am going by to post this query. Proof of the marriage is in the Estate Record of her mother, Elizabeth Booth Whitlock who b. c. 1771-73 probably in Northumberland County, Virginia, or Edgefield District, South Carolina and died July 20, 1860, near Trenton/Pine Log House, Edgefield District, South Carolina. There were 10 Whitlock Children, five living and five deceased c. 1860-61. My line come from Sarah's brother, James Whitlock, Sr. The father of these ten children was Winfrey Whtilock whose origins are unknown prior to the 1790 Edgefield District census. Suspected Whitlock origins are Virginia maybe in New Kent County (a burned County) prior to c. 1700. Some migrated westward from New Kent, through Hanover, and on to Goochland. The William Whitlock who had settled in Union District, South Carolina, c. 1785 was from Goochland County, Virginia. Any information on this William Walker appreciated. 1. Deed Lookup
    2. I have a copy of a 1922 letter concerning Tutt genealogy. The letter gives the following info, reportedly from an Edgefield, SC, deed, but cites no deed book and page. "Richard Tutt Jr. to Barkley Martin, 13 Jan 1802, Wife Elizabeth signed her dower., Witnesses Moody Burt, Stephen Morris" The significance is that I have never seen any other mention of Richard Tutt Jr's wife. It could be that this deed actually involves Richard Tutt Sr., uncle to Richard Tutt Jr. Richard Sr's wife was Elizabeth Perrin. I would appreciate any help (1) in getting more details of this deed, (2) in proving or disproving that the deed involves Richard Tutt Jr., and (3) in getting a proper citation for the deed. Thanks. Bowers, Leesville, SC buried: not given UT: can't read *Saluda Co. was not formed until 1895. Probably location was Edgefield Dist, SC. CONFLICTS: The Year of birth for Lessie J. Bowers is not the same as cem. records. I went back to the Camden Arcnives and rechecked the date. It is as I had typed. Additional info. of age at death 42 y, 5m, 22d would calculate birthdate as 13 Oct 1873, which is only one day off the date in cem. rather than a full year off the birthdate given in the death cert. Lissie is age 7 in the 1880 Census, Germanville, Edgefield, South Carolina, p. 153C, living with parents. That puts her birth at 1873 as well, altho census ages are notoriously off my several years. The following are identified in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church cem. records of HC Ouzts as Frank* and his wife* and two children: Bowers, Lessie J. TROTTER Oct 12 1873 Apr 4 1916 *Trotter, F. W. Sep 28 1846 - May 17 1916 *Trotter, Amanda C. [Christian KINARD] Mar 1 1851 - Dec 3 1933 Trotter, James Talbert Jul 15 1883 - Dec 26 1905 So, what to use when death cert. & cem. records are in conflict? Guess other source is needed to help confirm one or the other. I cannot do that. I have chosen to use the cem. records since her age at death works out to be 1873 also. ------------------------------ 1920 - Death Cert. #11313, Edgefield Co, SC James Warren Collins Male, White, Widow, retired farmer b. Quarles, Cold Springs, SC buried: Red Hill [Baptist Church, Edgefield Co, SC] UT: not given This is now correct. I had written down b. 1847 and it was 1843, which agrees with the cem. records. However there are still a small differences in days of birth of Dec. 13 vs Dec. 25. Red Hill Bapt, Edgefield Co, SC Collins, James W. Dec 23 1843 - Jun 3 1920 I cannot provide resolution to this conflict. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1952 - Death Cert. #16568, Edgefield Co, SC Bessie Corenne Parkman Female, White, child age 7 b. Dec. 20, 1952, Rural Edgefield Co, SC cause: Multiple fracture of skull & jaw - accident, fell our of truck door when truck ran into a ditch. informant: Raymond Parkman, father. buried: East View, Edgefield Co, SC UT: J. H. Hollingsworth Cem. records at East View Cem, Edgefield Co, SC gives different date of BIRTH Parkman, Bessie Corrine Jun 21 1946 Dec 20 1952 I double checked my transcription today, and the 1845 is correct per DC. According to the DC, she was age 7, which would mean that she was born in 1945 not 1946. I don't think I rechecked the day of death 21st vs 27th. -----------------------------------------------------------

    3. The following was transcribed from the microfilm collection of the Camden Archives and Museum, Camden, SC. As with all transcriptions, they are open to typos and errors. So, when I found a significant conflict in the data I had, and the cem. records, I went to the Archives to recheck to check to see if I had made the error. This one was correct as copied, but the death certificate itself seems to contain the error. Please post any additions/corrections to the list.
