FLORENCE | Elsie Norris Davis, 92, died Thursday, June 8, 2006 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mrs. Davis was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Franklin C. and Melvina Mishoe Norris. She attended Winthrop College after graduating Dillon High School. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Dillon for 20 years and she also taught at a local Bible College for five years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Thad Davis Sr., who died in 1998; two brothers, Frank C. Norris and Wells Norris; and a sister, Kathleen Richardson. Surviving are a son, Dr. Thad Davis Jr. and his wife, Jeanette C., of Florence; three grandchildren, Dr. Tripp (Hayley) Davis of N. Myrtle Beach, Dr. Todd Davis of Columbia and Kimberly (Bill) Badder of Florence; three great-grandchildren, Katherine, Cole and Caroline; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006 in the Trinity Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of her son, Dr. Thad Davis Jr., 409 Cherokee Road, Florence.
