LAKEVIEW— Mrs. Hortense Sweet Garris, 87, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Mullins Nursing Center after an illness. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at First Baptist Church of Lake View. Burial will be at Bear Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake View, directed by Cook Funeral Home of Lake View. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Garris was born May 6, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Smith and Juanita Huggins Page Jr. She lived her entire life in the Lake View community. Mrs. Garris is survived by her children, Carl Garris Jr. of Chapin, Alice Faye Kulmayer (Joe) of Williamsburg, Va., Jack Garris (Myrna) of Dillon, Hilda Stephens (Skeet) of Dillon, Steve Garris (Janice) of Lake View and Randy Garris of Lake View; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Garris was preceded in death by her son, Harry James Garris, and her husband, Carl Johnson Garris.
