MULLINS — Mr. Michael Dean Rising, 57, husband of Sallie Maree Christmas Rising, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at his home after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at the chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Garris officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Cedardale Cemetery. Mr. Rising was born October 27, 1948, in Dillon, a son of the late Luther Rising, Jr. and the late Mable Dean Hayes Rising. He retired from the S.C. National Guard after 18 years of service. He had also served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Rising was a graduate of Dillon High School and Coker College. He was a member of Dillon Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Rising, in addition to his wife of the home, are a daughter, Jordana R. Martin and her husband, Joe, of Mullins; and a brother, Luther Rising of Columbia. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 til 9 p.m. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
