Ethel Mae Carter, 72, died Sunday, September 24, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Wednesday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Born in Rowland, NC, July 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Austin Grimsley and Qussie Long Grimsley. She was a member of Dillon Second Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Carter of Dillon; son, Ronnie Lee Hyatt of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Patricia Slocum of Four Oaks, NC; brothers, Thomas O. Grimsley of Dillon, Robert Grimsley and Raymond Grimsley both of Michigan; sister, Helen Hardee of Michigan; 6 grandchildren. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her step-son, Robert Carter.
