DILLON — Graveside services for Pree Olden Cumbee will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home. Mr. Cumbee, 82, died Monday, September 11, 2006, in McLeod Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Born January 25, 1924, in Berkeley County, SC, he was the son of the late Silas Altman Cumbee Sr. and Rosa Ackerman Cumbee. Mr. Cumbee was a World War II veteran and Purple Heart Recipient, and had retired from International Paper Company as well as Canal Wood. He had been currently employed with the Dillon County Recycle Center. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Hutto Cumbee; daughters, Donna C. (Leroy Watts) Watts of Hartsville, SC, Debbie C. (DJ Johnson) Johnson of Franklin, NC, and Dana C. (Ronnie Wiggins) Wiggins of Latta, SC; brothers, Jack Cumbee of McCellanville, SC, Calvin Cumbee of Bonneau, SC; James “Shorty” Cumbee of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Cleva Mims of Hanahan, SC, and Jessie Bright of Atlanta, Georgia; three granddaughters; one grandson; one great-granddaughter. Mr. Cumbee was preceded in death by a brother, Silas Altman Cumbee Jr.; and a sister, Mary Cumbee.
