Johnnie M. "Buddy" Wilkerson, 70, died Sunday, January 7, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Born in Dillon County, June 22, 1936, he was the son of the late John Wilkerson and Marie Bailey Wilkerson. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and had been employed by Kenny's Mobile Home. Surivors include his wife, Gladys Wilkerson of Dillon; daughters, Faye (Warren) Powell of Dillon, Teresa Wilkerson of Asheville, NC, Renee (Lester) Lott of Latta, Melanie (Terry) Brigman of Bingham, Barbara (Larry) Barfield of Graham, NC, Kathy Hunt of Manning, and Dianne (Charlie) Herring of Dillon; sons, John Wilkerson of Dillon, and Danny Ray (Anna) Hunt of Burlington; sister, Shirley W. Whittington of Charlotte, NC; aunt, Genevieve B. Compton of Las Vagas, Nevada; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Wilkerson Hinson.
