DILLON — John William Webb of Lake View, 85, died Thursday, January 11, 2007, in a Dillon Hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Florence. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born in Florence, a son of the late Samuel Morris and Faye Cook Webb. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Webb graduated from Southwestern Seminary and served as Minister of Education at several churches in his career including Mullins First Baptist Church, Conway First Baptist Church, Park Street Baptist Church in Columbia and Western Branch Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA. Upon his retirement, he returned to Florence, where he was a member of First Baptist Church and the L.R. Perry Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Miller Webb of Lake View; a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria W. Lee and Marvin Lee Jr., of Dillon; a son and daughter-in-law, John W. Webb Jr. and Rosalind W. Webb, of Columbia; two brothers, Joe Webb of Florence and Thomas C. Webb of Sneed’s Ferry, N.C.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 S.
